Charge Port Unlock Button Not Working

Good Afternoon,

Has anyone else had trouble with their charge port unlock button not releasing the charger? This has happened 3 times now and it happens at a charepoint fast charger. This has only been happening the last 3 attempts and only at this charger. I've never had an issue simply ending the session by pressing the unlock button. Idk if it's my car or the charger, but I see others using it no problem. It's really frustrating as the only way to release it is to manually release it under the hood, which isn'teasy. Any advice would help. TIA

Does it not release if you end the session from the charging station?
Were all 3 at the same exact station?

The charge port unlock button has been unreliable for me from day one. I used the stop charger soft button on the screen in the car (which is between the frunk and trunk buttons) and that works every time.

Update to this, all 3 previous sessions where this happened was at the same chargepoint station. I tried it at an EA this morning and it happened again. Thinking this is a vehicle issue and not a charger issue now. EA stations I always stop the session from the screen and then it unlocks the charger. Unlock button and charger did nothing again.

Only one I haven't tried is the soft button on screen. All others I have with no luck. I will try the on screen method after work today and update.

This has started happening to me for the past two months or so. Though it only occurs at DCFCs. I have to press the unlock button quite a few times even though the car is already unlocked. Sometimes the door is opened.

So it eventually unlocks for you? Mine does nothing and doesn't appear to be recognizing I pressed the button. The lights will spin but nothing actually happens

Yes, sometimes I have to press the unlock button up to six times. It has happened at almost every DCFC I have been to in the past twoish months.

If the cable tension is causing the connector to bind, it may not unlatch. If that’s the case, pressing the connector into the socket, then pressing the button should work.

Only one I haven't tried is the soft button on screen. All others I have with no luck. I will try the on screen method after work today and update.

Please try pressing the unlock button on the inside of the driver's door immediately before using either charge port unlock button. Just because a door is open doesn't mean the car is fully unlocked unfortunately.

If the outside button still doesn't work, you might have some sort of glitch with the wiring to it. Such as a mouse chewed it or corrosion.

Update as of this morning: while in full accessory mode, I pressed thrle unlock button on thr inside of the drivers side door and then pressed the charge port unlock button on the center screen. This successfully allowed the charger ro be removed and the session stopped. Thanks everyone!
