I'm still waiting to get back into the shop for axle 2 of 2. The SA is overworked and has a hard time calling me back. It's getting worse though - now I can feel it in the steering.

That's what makes it worse, when you can feel it. I do as well, but more so in the floor area and the dead pedal where your left foot rests. Right foot feels it as well. Cringe.

Not sure if I feel it in the steering wheel, thought it was drive by/steer by wire anyway so no physical connection, but still! Hopefully next time I get the car back I won't have the opportunity to test since it will be resolved! *fingers crossed but not holding my breath*

Steering is electric assist (vs. hydraulic like old power steering systems), but there's a physical connection to the wheels. Good luck on your repair!

Well ain't this just peachy. I first noticed this noise as I was pulling out of the dealership when I picked up my car with only 27 miles on the odometer. Not the click.click.click of a CV, but a CLUNK.CLUNK.CLUNK. I've never had a AWD car with performance tires, and assumed it was just "grippy" and would go away, or was a "one time" thing. No other issues on the 126 mile drive from the dealership in PA where purchased to home in MD. Now that I have had the car two weeks, I've only driven it about seven or eight times but when I do drive, it's about 100 miles. I now have 734 miles on the car and it is making a VERY LOUD CLUNK.CLUNK.CLUNK, which "rocks" the entire vehicle on the left hand turn coming out of my driveway onto the street, like a 4x4 truck with a front locker engaged on asphalt.
I've read all these posts and listened to the audio files some of you have posted, and I think there are two issues going on here - one is bad CV joints, the other (my issue) sounds like something in the front motor not disengaging and letting the outside wheel travel faster than the inside wheel in a turn, causing the loud CLUNKing. I only notice it at low speeds turning sharply, when pulling out onto a road, or from a parking spot.
Looks like I'll be taking my brand-new $70K car in for service....

Sorry to hear, you’d think after making people wait for their cars they would have fixed this

Yes, there are two issues. So far my dealer thinks mine is the click of a bad axle not the thunk of a bad motor. They’ve replaced one axle with no effect. I’ve been trying to get the other one fixed for six weeks. COVID or not, this is getting a bit shameful.

Well, I wouldn't get too upset with Ford - look at everything about the Mach-e they got RIGHT. It's inevitable with a new design to have some issues, and if we couldn't take the joke, we should have kept our money in our pocket until the 2025 model year. ? What is important is how dealerships and Ford corporate handle them, and I cannot blame a dealership for not being able to get parts in stock during all this COVID mess. This'll get sorted eventually and at least it hasn't disabled the car.

With all due respect how could you not be upset with Ford. This has been an issue for a while, they know about it so how are new cars still having this problem. It’s really unacceptable and as long as people give them a pass they will continue to throw out products without doing the real testing necessary before they send 60k products out.

your not buying a product for 5 cents, we should expect more .

I'd say I'm more disappointed than upset, as this is more than likely a purely mechanical issue (something Ford, after 100 years, should be expert at) but I've also been involved in large deployment projects and realize that "shit happens". This could be a case where Ford didn't even do the design work on either component (CV joints or the electric motor). I think Sandy Monroe stated in one of his YouTube videos who the company was that designed the motor. This is how most complex systems go these days - lots of subcontractors. We have a problem, we take it to dealer; dealer has the problem; takes it to Ford; Ford takes the problem and goes back to the subcontractor to fix the design and/or pay for warranty replacement/repair. I'd also point out that Tesla is still having issues with their EVs after ten years in production. My Dodge Cummins has issues with known faults that where never addressed by Cummins. It's a machine and machines fail. Like I said before, I won't be "upset" unless Ford or the dealership really botches the handling of the issue.

So because the other companies products are defective it’s ok to make an inferior product also?

it’s the computer software syndrome, they throw stuff out and we end up testing for them by reporting problems and they fix on the fly.

I would think when they get something from a contractor they check it out first. Do extensive testing. People have been reporting this on the MME since April. My feeling is that Ford knew about it from day 1 but said, to hell with it, we are not going to hold up production, we will deal with it later , basically saying FU to customers

I am retired and have the time to bring in for service but when I was working I would not. To boot does ford give a loaner whenever there is a problem?, not all the time. Maybe they should pay us for doing quality review on their products. Some people have taken their cars in several times to no avail Waste of time and cost people money.

I would have loved to tell my clients when we made a mistake, well you know the other guy probably would have made a mistake also, or we are just practicing on your work.

believe it or not I am pretty mellow when stuff happens but not this, added to their complete lack of communication to their customers as to why cars are held up or why cars made in January are being shipped before cars made in OCt, Nov or December

Ford is not the only auto company that does this but they should do better. Hopefully if ever get my car I will not have issues but if I do ford will have lost me forever. First American car in 30 years and hopefully not a mistake.

this car hits all the right buttons for me and hopefully it works out OK

Took my car in 12.17, they said they are going to replace the left and right half shafts and they will do the windshield and panoramic glass replacement at the same time. I am told one of the half shafts has come in, but not the other. Anyone else dealing with a parts backorder delay at your dealership? It seems like there have been quite a few replacements done in here already.

Yep, my left shaft was replaced last week and that fixed the issue (for now at least). They were supposed to do the windshield/panoramic recall work at the same time, but have parts on order for that. I was told it would be late February for those parts, and I'll have to bring it back in.

[off topic] and now they're telling me they don't have any instructions on how to do the glass recall: "the repair procedures are not yety avail. For the glass recalls." [unedited] I dunna... Ford is having a tough time.
