Spoke with service adviser at my dealership briefly this evening and it seems they are having to replace some part/parts of my front axle.
On week two of waiting for my spare part... at least I got to ditch the crappy Kia Niro EV rental while I'm waiting :)

Eh - that's no bueno.

I'm interested to hear what he has to say this AM. I was a bit shocked that they'd already started replacing/doing stuff. I expected a phone call after they'd evaluated the car to let me know what the issue is and next steps.

I have to have the car before Thanksgiving, so going 2 weeks waiting for a part isn't going to work for me.

Well that was a waste of time this morning. I took it into the dealership hoping for some kind of visual verification of the problem, but apparently that isn’t practical for CV joints. So instead I took the mechanic for a ride and tried to demonstrate the noise. The car, location, and weather were not cooperating.

The “gravel knocking” noise was there to my ears, but faint. The dealership - like almost all of them - was located near a busy noisy interstate. And it was windy. And so we’re doing sharp u-turns in the parking lot and the mechanic is saying he kinda hears it but he isn’t even sure what parts to order because he can’t tell which side it is coming from.

He suggested I keep tabs on it and bring it back if the noise gets worse. Ugh.

Hello! I'd like to look into the noise concern you have with your Mach-E on my end. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and current mileage?

The mechanic for my case was able to hear it instantly, so he was able to verify the complaint and confirm the issue. The biggest problem right now is Ford has no (or insufficient) spares. Still waiting...

Very interesting. Saw my Mach-E move back into this shop this AM (watched it move into the shop yesterday and then back out to charge yesterday evening).

Texted my service advisor to get an update and he just said "Good Morning! Stay tuned...".

Just got a phone call that she's all done, front axle already replaced (along with some other TSBs they did too).

Will go pick it up this evening and I'll let you know what the service sheet says.

On a side-note: Would any of you complain/ask why they've put 18 miles on your car while in for service? Someone drove it 18 miles yesterday morning before they started working on it....

Yeah... I'd probably ask about that.

Picked up my Mach-E this afternoon from the dealership. Everything seems to have been fixed. The mileage was just part of their overall testing/etc/etc. Seems excessive, but oh well...

Here's the service sheet for the axle replacement:

Spoke with service adviser at my dealership briefly this evening and it seems they are having to replace some part/parts of my front axle. He was very brief and is supposed to give me another call in the AM after he has spoken with the technician to get all/accurate info. He did mention that a part is on "emergency" order. Apparently they're a bit shorthanded and busy at the moment....

I'll give another update once I know exactly what they're replacing.
Hey, so I took mine in today for this. They heard the noise, wanted more time with it so I went home. Got a text later from the SA that the tech "thinks the noise is coming from the halfshaft" - so part has been ordered. Going to find out more tomorrow, and what exactly the timeline is for this part. Car is still with them overnight ? - but I'll prob go pick it up tomorrow unless there a concrete ETA on the part, shipping confirmation, etc, for this week.

ok wow, I needed to refresh this page. Many more messages since your post from the other day, which was still the last showing on my screen ?

OK so that's great to hear, thanks for posting the sheet. Guess it took you just about a few days or so with your car there. I also see "halfshaft" written on your workup so hopefully mine is on the right track then as well. Hoping they have the part in by Friday.

Yea, I was pretty surprised they had it fixed in two days. I was expecting to wait a few weeks for parts...

It’s been a few weeks since I posted on here about my MME front end noise. I just heard back from the dealer who narrowed It down to the right axle or something internal in the motor. They reached out to ford with their finding and asked if they had any other things to check. Ford is now saying to go ahead and replace the front motor. A $5,000 part! The part won’t be in until first part of December. I have 20,000 miles on my car. I’m glad I got this checked out now.
