Thank you for the images. The other day, because of an odd reflection, I had noticed that the speaker was offset under the plastic grille.

While I still think it is odd that it is off center, at least I no longer have to tear it apart to make sure it is where it is supposed to be.

any thoughts why it isn’t centered???

So - I haven't touched my center speaker or the grille, but it seems the grill has developed an annoying rattle more recently.

I suspect the service dept removed it when replacing my IPC (I assume they removed the entire dash to do that) a while back, and maybe that's the culprit.

Either way, just curious if anyone else who has removed/replaced the grille there has any rattles now? Plan on taking it off and poking around this weekend. When it starts rattling I can press down on it to stop it for a bit, but it comes back. Thinking maybe a little felt tape or something underneath will stop it.

Anybody know the part number for this? Did a quick google but search results varied for a 2022 MME.

My center speaker had that annoying buzz, so I replaced it with the stock Ford speaker this weekend. It sounds much better now. Very quick little job.

But just a word of warning to those of you who plan to replace it yourself... You may want to put a towel or something over the defrost vents at the base of the windshield. When prying off the speaker cover one of the turquoise clips snapped off and I heard it fall down somewhere - kinda sounded like it ended up somewhere behind/below the steering column.

I didn't find it anywhere in the cabin, and after shining a light down through the speaker hole and up behind the accelerator pedal, there doesn't seem to be an obvious path for it to fall into the cabin. So all I can figure is it must've fell into the defroster vents and went down that way.

Luckily for me I don't hear the speaker cover or the missing clip rattling around while I am driving. And the speaker cover still sits nice and flat.

Even though your grill isn't rattling, if you want any of those turquoise retainers, I can drop some in the mail to you (free). DM me if you're interested.

Hello y’all. I took the center speaker out of my Bo und put a infinity reference 3032 in. I would consider is as an upgrade over the paper speaker that is coming with the Bo system. my regards go out to the person who had the idea first.

How hard was it to replace? Did you have an online tutorial that you followed?

Replacing the center speaker? Super easy. The grille on the dash above the speaker just lifts up. There are 9 retainers. Use a trim tool and start at one corner. Once off, the speaker is right there. Just unscrew the two screws, lift up the speaker and disconnect the connector. If you look back at post 12 ( #12 ) on this thread I have photos from the repair manual that shows you this. NOTE: I don't use a center speaker. Mine is disconnected and removed. ?

Resurrecting an older thread. My center channel is blown, and in reading through this thread it seems easy and cheap enough to replace. But I'm intrigued by the people who just disconnected it and run their sound without the center channel at all. How does that sound? I feel like the stock system over-relies on that center channel speaker, and I'm inclined to believe it may sound better if you just remove it and go with a well-balanced stereo sound.

Some navigation commands are only played through the center speaker, so if you disconnect it, you won't be able to hear voice navigation instructions.

I assume that is only for the Ford Navigation, correct?

And CarPlay, although it seems like there's a mixture of center channel and stereo being used for commands and Siri at various times (might depend on audio source, e.g music from phone vs. FM).

I was going to say because all I ever use is CarPlay since early '21. I have never had the center speaker connected and I don't seem to miss any Siri or Navigation prompts.

Very interesting, thanks guys! I'm 100% Carplay as well. Maybe I'll play around with the no-center-channel config for a little while to see how it performs. Seems like a 10-minute job to open up that cover and disconnect the speaker.
