I received OTA 3.6.2 earlier this week, and I think it may have deleted my backup start passcode (in addition to forcing me to set up my charge locations again to get them to be respected).

I had to valet park my car earlier today, and when I hit "Valet Mode", it kept asking me to enter in a 4-digit PIN to lock the screen, as opposed to showing the 8 (5,3) digit start+enter codes as it normally does. Luckily, the valet folks weren't too nitpicky (suggested that I leave the car on for them and take my phone, and they would let me go with them to retrieve the car upon pick-up), but this could have been a problem in a different lot.

After fiddling around with the system when I got home, I saw that the backup start passcode was deleted -- setting it up again re-enabled the expected "Valet Mode" behavior. Might need to start getting in the habit of taking the fob around with me :) (which is unfortunate, because the most recent update actually seems to have made PaaK a bit more reliable!)

TLDR: always check that your backup start passcode still exists after an update (or just carry the fob...)

Buy a little faraday bag for your fob and hide it in your car. I’ve just switched to try PaaK and now I still have the fob if my phone randomly doesn’t get recognized or for car washes, valet, etc.

Or just take the battery out of the fob, put both the fob and battery in a bag and hide them “somewhere.”
