I received two emails from FordPass this morning. Both reported that:

Hi Thomas,
Your Backup Start Passcode was used to operate Thomz-Mache 2021 2021 Mustang Mach-E.
If you didn’t authorize this, please contact a FordGuide.
My vehicle was in a parking lot adjacent to the local coffee shop. The time the note was sent was about the same time I returned to the vehicle. But I had my keyfob with me and didn't use the passcode.

Has anyone else had this experience? I don't know what to make of it. The vehicle was locked (at least I think it was). I have the walk-away feature activated for when I forget (which is seldom). No evidence of tampering or anything amiss. And it's a pretty safe area.

Yup, me about 2 hours ago.

.... I hope my car is where I left it.

I also got 2 emails stating that my backup passcode was used, at 11:23 AM eastern. The car was charging at the time, and still is. Clearly a bug.

Sounds like Ford needs to spend more money on software assurance.

Same here, received one email this morning. Called FordPass and other than telling me my connected services were still connected, they could not tell me anything else, and suggested I go look at the car to see if it’s still there.

On occasion email and FordPass notifications seem to come after being stuck in ford servers for several days. Did you use the start passcode at any point before that message? It may have just been a delayed notification that came at a coincidental time.

I got one today that said new passcode added. I did that 8 days ago.

I got 2 emails 8:25 and 8:26 am (Pacific) saying a backup passcode was created.

My phone lost PAAK a couple times recently, so I have set up 2 passcodes (or rather the same code twice), including the most recent a few days ago.

I suspect since folks are getting different emails they had some cache and some server came (back?) online And just resent everything. Spooky but probably fine.

Nope. I haven't used the backup passcode for at least a month.

PaaK went flaky for a moment after the 2.8.? update and I needed my passcode once about a week ago. So, yeah, maybe a cache issue.

Same thing happened to me. I had the guy with a Tesla parked next to me at work check his Sentry mode to make sure my car was still there. Wish I had Sentry mode. I used the backup about a month ago when my phone was dead. That’s the only time. I got a notice then as well.

After several calls to Ford to contact a FordGuide (?) I was redirected to FordPass support who related that mine was the twelfth call she had taken and that it was indeed an error. FordPass losing its electronic mind....

I mean that answer is spot on. I don’t get why they say to contact ford. I guess they just copied a typical account security disclaimer. Don’t waste your time calling.
