Does no-one remember how to use their side view mirrors to line things up?

I have to back out almost 200' every time I leave the abode. 1 lane, heavily wooded on one side and lots of brush and trees on the other.

It's mostly straight, but you can't wander much or your paint is in jeopardy of..... Well, it wouldn't be a nice sound, that's for sure.

I love the 360, especially the rear camera to make sure there's no debris fallen or animals or kids on the road. But I'm definitely "navigating" via the side mirrors. Primarily the drivers. It's just been the method for too many decades.

I will admit that I'm actually better at it in the truck. Wider angle mirror and longer wheelbase. I can rip backwards in that huge land yacht. And it too has 360 and lots of sensors.

When I get to the office, I park in fairly tight quarters in an old aircraft hangar. Now THAT is where the sweet camera/sensor technology shines!

Its why Tesla all have destroyed rims and wheels, really hard to park. Heck my select even self parks, although I have only used it twice.
I wonder how yours self parks. Mine is select too I do see a button labeled P but never know what does it do.

Am I the only one?

I’ve had this car for 2 1/2 years. I’ve never had this issue with any other car I’ve owned.

But I just can’t figure out how to park this dang car straight within the lines of a parking lot!

I don’t know if it’s the weird sloping and bumpy hood or what. But half the time I park, I’m nowhere near straight and even in the parking spot. ?‍♂
I had the same thing with my lexus gx460, it sat higher with no camera except for an obsolete low resolution back up camera but i always seemed to parked crooked. With the mach e i park better, i use the side mirrors with the cameras and drive it on Sport Mode for tighter steering controls. Maybe try that

Mine is a 2021 Job 2, it had park assist with the comfort and tech package. It was removed from the car in early 2022, so only the older models have it

I have the same issue. I love the car, but it is the worst car I have ever had for parking. It steers more like a bus.

Thanks for your post, I figured it must just be me. Then I thought maybe I was just much pickier parking my Mach e than I was with my 20 year old Corolla. Now I know “it’s a thing”.

My first car was a '77 Olds 88. 18.75 feet long. Since then I have driven a wide variety of vehicles from a 53' box truck (RV) down to a a John Deere Gator side by side. Certainly some are easier than others, but I have no trouble parking any vehicle. I have a long bed (8') extended cab F-150 as well. While the 360 degree cameras are helpful they are not essential to by ability to park my MME. I do wish it had better (BIGGER) side view mirrors. So no. no problems parking this car, with or without the tech.

I found out the hard way that the image of the MachE in the 360 camera view is smaller than actual when trying to exit a tight parking space where others had parked close to me on both sides and behind.

And it becomes a self profiling prophecy, without 360 cameras I used to learn my cars dimensions and how to park well, with them on both cars I dont bother, I dont learn, I just rely on the tech and if it didnt work I would just park elsewhere. In 20 years the only people who will be able to park are the old school antique car people.
Yeah, and most of us likely know how to use a rotary phone, too.

I only back end park - for pedestrian safety. With the camera, it’s a breeze

Easiest car to park I have ever owned. Not just you, because I see a bunch of people supporting you on this thread. But not me. Keep practicing!
