I get how drivers new to EVs depend on the car's (and the app's) range estimate, but... don't.

The range estimate is at best a suggestion. The automakers do their best to take as many factors as possible into consideration, and I wouldn't call it useless. If the number is lower than you'd expect given the percentage of charge, then it's a great hint that your consumption will be higher. But, seriously, there's a lot that ultimately affects your range, including your own behavior.
This is so true.

I see range estimate 309 miles, I read 270.

My normal daily driving is so consistent that the GOM became respectfully credible.
But I took a 400 mile trip over the weekend and the 70-80mph run certainly injured that credibility. ?

Now that I'm back home and returned to my repetitive loop, I am watching the GOM cautiously return as well. But I certainly see the cautiousness. It had the crap scared out of it. ?

If you pull out of your garage, and you need to load items into the rear cargo area, should you leave the car running (on), or turn it off while loading?
I'm curious if that short "trip" out of the garage where no miles are recorded affects the GOM?
Considering this scenario, what's best, leave it on. Or turn it off?
