While I agree with you in spirit as I also have every thing on and speedo to the right anyway so this is a non issue on my end. And who looks at the speedo? I just go with the flow of traffic only once in a while checking the speedo to be sure I'm not doing 100...
To go with the flow of traffic requires traffic. Many of the rural roads I commonly drive don't have a lot of traffic. That's part of the reason I go that way, to avoid traffic. YMMV

Well of course if there's no one there, you need to check the speedo, our Mach E's are speedy devils and if you don't watch, you'll pop up to 90 before you know it!

Grow up, drive responsibly, keep your vision on the road
Ok. I will take your bait…

Defensive driving includes scanning the road and the instrument panel. A driver needs to know their speed and monitor the car for messages that include the car’s performance and alert them to problems and warnings. If I am expected to only watch the road, why have a speedometer at all? Because it is essential feedback to the driver.

The MachE has the ability to provide audio and steering wheel vibration feedback in addition to the blinking lines. And if I only had those lines to watch, I would also be taking my eyes off the road to verify the car thought I was in my lane. The IPC has the ability to throw a message that warrants my attention regardless of the driving mode. So why can I not have a feature I like?

This is about choice and take backs from Ford, of which there have already been many.

There is also a lack of attention to the fact that taking this path potentially puts me at odds with future software updates that may be required or conflict with my configuration. I am 100% certain that Ford’s test matrix will not account for these differences. So I am choosing to freeze my car in time, the same as every previous car I have owned.

The message I am hoping to deliver to @Ford Motor Company is your update strategy is flawed. And since they are telling Wall Street this is their path to further monetization of these vehicles, this may not be realized. And that is something I think they deeply care about.

Exactly! Thank you for understanding.
For me those design details are. As important to me as anything else
On the car.
So the design details are as important to you as the brakes, seatbelts, backup camera, air bags or windshield wipers? Good Lord, we are are in bizarro world. I wonder if you think the scent of flowers is as important as breathing?

This.

A feature on the car that I've purchased and owned for two years is slated to be removed. I'm all for adding features and improving the experience....but please don't remove things. As stated a few times already, hopefully this WILL be coming back. In the mean time, there's no need to upgrade to 6.8.0 and beyond unless my needs/wants change. It's not that hard to understand folks.

Sizzler is used to old crotchety seniors showing up at 4PM talking about all the pills they have to take with their late dinner and argue why the Malibu Chicken coupon they have from last year no longer works.
I'm saying we are probably the worst of that bunch. (Well some of us)

I too want to turn off updates. But I think on the bright side I can drive in engage mode with a useless car instead of a useless and distracting gauge.

Now it will make me turn on LKA so that the icon isn’t useless.

Bravo ford product managers. Although somehow I’m not sure they were intentional with that.

This thread goes to a point I've made before. No matter what companies do, they will always piss off someone. What some like, some hate. They cannot win no matter what they do. Been on forums for cars, trucks, computers, beer brewing, etc. It's all the same.

"I cannot believe that company X did this. I am outraged."

Next thread:

"This is the most wonderful change since the creation of chocolate. I am delighted and can't say enough about how company X really cares about their customers".

If there is a near-equal number of complaints and praise a company can consider themselves doing really well. Many more people complain than praise.

Can only speak for me. I use my car mostly to and from work on the highway where BC has been pretty flawless. So, my speedo is always off to the right. When I have disabled lane-keep assist to see the speedo in the center, I found the animations to be distracting and reverted to the speedo on the right. Again, the reality is, most people are right-eye dominant and having it off center to the right puts it in an optimal location. And in most cars, speedos are not centered. How soon we forget. Consider it retro. You drive a Mustang, right?

I love the look of the unbridled center speedometer. It’s one of the things I like most about the car in fact. I even have it as my phone Lock Screen. I only turn on driver assist features when I need them for this reason. I am first and foremost a form over function person. You all might not understand why someone can appreciate good design, but I, and clearly several other people do.
You all also might not understand that you don’t have to comment on everything that you don’t agree with, especially when it apparently has no impact on you either way. Kindly keep your negative opinions to yourself.
I’ve always thought the drive mode names were silly

I wouldn’t call some animated lines a feature.

The difference this time is it is not a "change", it's purely a deletion of a feature. People who didn't like it or didn't care could already have the dumb car on there. They have removed the options not to have the stupid ugly car. The only options are to either hate it, or not care because it doesn't affect you.

It would be easy to make everyone happy here: don't remove the thing. Boom! Everyone who likes the tiny speed-o behind their hands can have that, and people who want it in the middle can have that too.
