What I’m actually scratching my head about is why so many people want to turn off safety features (lane keep assist) in order to make the speedometer more aesthetically pleasing.
I turn them off because they're annoying. The aesthetics are a bonus.

Then you’re not one of the people I was referring to.

It was a comment specifically about people who turn it off just to move the placement of the speedometer.

You’re turning it off for other reasons.

But if you’re turning it off just to move the speedometer, it would be like not wearing a seatbelt because you don’t want to wrinkle your shirt.

I enjoy using BlueCruise in my Mach-e, but I enjoy driving my Chevy Bolt more, because it feels like it was designed for EV drivers... especially the instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster of the Mach-e has always bothered me... particularly the lack of any m/kwh info, but also the fact that I cannot adjust the steering wheel lower without blocking important information (I really do like to know what cruising speed the car has arbitrarily decided to set, based on questionable map data).

With that, I post some "mach-ups" of what I think would be a better instrument cluster. Maybe @Ford Motor Company will take notice.

On the instrument cluster, I am disappointed that they removed the trip data for Android Auto from the left side. It now only shows up just prior to a turn.

Holy clutter fuck! ?

I'm going to vote no on the above, but these I happen to love: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/a-fresh-take-on-the-mustang-mache-instrument-cluster.29919/

A LVB SOC would certainly be a welcome addition since it was woefully under engineered to save weight!! But I guess that is expected to remain hidden behind failed OTA’s with no explanation.

I will say, the new layout is super annoying because it makes the entire center of the display useless. It conveys no information now, just wasted space. And no cool graphics.

I completely agree. Why can’t they have it come on when you are using the safety features and turn off when you aren’t like before. The car always on display serves no purpose. maybe I could get behind it if it did anything like showed a door open or the frunk/hatch or something cool but it literally does nothing (even that is pushing it). Hopefully they change it in a future update.

Exactly - the car graphic was my telltale that one of the nannies had been accidently turned on. Now I don't know if cruise control is on, or if lane keeping is going to yell at me for straightening out curves, or if the speed limit recognition has been turned on and it's suddenly going to decide to go 85. Or 25...

I can't scream this loud enough @Ford Motor Company !! You eliminated the option of the driver to choose what information to display in the best location of the screen and forced upon us a pointless graphic of a car. Some have argued that when lane centering/assist is on that this car provides useful information (i disagree), but even so.... does this need to be front and center of the screen? I don't think so, move this off to the side!!. The center of the screen is the only place on the screen that no matter what height you are, you don't have can obstructed view. I am tall and in my seating position the sides of the screen are covered by the steering wheel, I have dealt with it but this change is infuriating now. And then when you add hand positions at 10 and 2 now have to look through my hand to see how fast I am going. Please Ford give us the choice again to choose what we want displayed. ?

I saw this thread when it was first posted and thought "well that's kind of a weird thing to complain about but not my business" and didn't think much of it. One week later, I just spent an hour catching up on it. 10/10. No notes. Good times were had. I love this forum.

I thought if you were screaming, you were supposed to type in CAPS.

Well, Ford has heard our complaints.

*quoted from another thread:

There has been a change to the graphic design in the cluster display resulting from Software Update 6.8, and we appreciate your feedback which we will consider as part of our future updates. Please continue to provide feedback on all aspects of your ownership experience using the Record Feedback function.
Also, here's a recording of a representative from Ford regarding the issue:
