When the Mach E launched Ford said the IPC would be customizable. It never has been (discounting using FORScan to change the compass heading to the temperature heading). Adding a) the ability to customize the IPC, and b) the features Ali suggests would, IMO, be wonderful. As for the potential for distraction, honestly I think that's overblown. There are already tons of potential distractions in the car - these modest changes don't strike me as any worse and frankly each one has utility (except maybe the headlights). But that's why I think it would make sense to make them customizable - each to his/her own.

I don’t see any benefit to the headlight/taillight indications.

Adding a tiny map to the IPC seems a bit useless compared to the sync screen.

I turn off the distance indicator because I likewise that useless and the big rectangle is ugly and weird.

You should be concentrating on controlling the distance between you and the car in front of you, not worrying about whether your brake lights are on because you decellerated a little too fast. If you want finer control of the brake lights coming on, then you need to use 2-pedal mode. Staring down at the display to see if they are triggering is a safety issue.

This! One-hundred percent this!

Because it is distracting? And unnecessary?
What in this car is necessary that’s not in a 1990 car? Do you also argue that lane keep us also distracting? The huge car in the middle of the cluster isn’t distracting?
If it’s distracting. Don’t look at it. It’s not like I’m saying it has to be bright enough for you to even notice it. It looks cool.

I was behind a Mach E and he seemed to be tapping on his brakes every so often. I’m guessing he was in 1-pedal and letting off too much from time to time.

I don't stare at the instrument cluster. Quick glances down to see if I'm speeding, what range I have left, whether I have turn coming up on navigation, wether BC is enabled, etc. I have my MME set to give me audible and physical cues if lane keeping assist is being activated. No need to reinvent the "your headlights are one" idiot light. I get that some stuff would be nice to have in that great wide expanse of a display (I'd love a kW consumption/regeneration indicator), but some of what you are asking for is unnecessarily distracting, and redundant.

Note, this topic comes up every so often. And the conclusion is usually the same: Ford isn't going to implement it for a variety of reasons, some of which have already been mentioned here.

I think it will be useful if we get the alert we get on the mirror displayed on the driver console as well and optionally allow that to be audible

Only would want this as an option, the IPC needs to remain uncluttered, in my opinion. I would find the mini map there almost useless, there is the countdown turn navigation bar, which is useful, already.
I’ll take this one further and say I don’t really care for the lane positioning indicators even though I like the lane keeping functionality. I’d like to remove it and have the uncluttered display that you get with lane keeping off, while having lane keeping on

I mean, I haven’t tried, but if you drift into another lane without blinkers on, it will push you back into the lane I think.
