Hi there! I just bought a 2024 Mach E on Tuesday night. So far, loooving it, and still trying to figure out tips and tricks...
I found out how to plug in a MP3 player and play music, but I noticed my player stays on after I turn off the car. Do you know if it is safe to keep the player plugged in over night? Will it drain the battery?
Sorry, I am aware this is a silly question. It is my first EV, and I overthink things...
Thanks for your help!

the USB ports turn off after [5] minutes (i forget the exact number, they 100% turn off though, it will not drain your battery)

also shout out to MP3 players in 2025 :)
Haha! I don't want to load my phone with tons of songs, or download an app... Samsung isn't the best for this...

Thanks for your quick reply!!

The USB port, just above the wireless charging station.
Gotcha, yes you will be fine, I have a dashcam and leave mine plugged in there all the time..it will indeed shut off (I'm not sure what the official Ford answer is as to time, perhaps someone can chime in), but in my experience it's much quicker than 5 minutes...

For me if I shut the car off and get out, it shuts off in less than 1 minute (for instance if I get out and go back to the trunk to to get something out, by the time I am opening the trunk the camera is already powering down.....)

An FYI, a simple thumb drive of any capacity can suffice as a storage and playback device in the mentioned USB ports. Since the infotainment system in the MME has a decent "song management system app" it is convenient to utilize, and if a Playlist file is presented on the storage device, the app will recognize it and function in that manner as well.

Personally, I am pretty much dug in with wireless Android Auto for music be it locally stored on the phone or a nearly unlimited array of streaming channels which require very little storage at all.

What’s an MP3 player. ??
Of course I also remember singles. (45s), even a few 78’s, lots of 33’s vinyl , reel yo reel tape, 8 Track ( oh the horror) cassettes, CDs etc. some of those still have attributes. But MP3’s. Even this 70 year old streams music.

$37 for Apple TV, unlimited music, and 2TB of storage is a steal. That reminds me, my new TMobile plan pays for some of the Apple subscription, I need to set that up.

Haha.
I'm seen.
Who knew that mp3 file use would mark you as a Luddite one day?

Keep it simple use a memory stick in the USB port. I've been using that on both mach es for four years now with no issues. I have around 1200 songs on it but room for thousands more. The sync 4 system will give you a menu that lists by song artist genre etc.
