It's frustrating. All of a sudden, when I am connected to CarPlay, my internet stops working. It took me a few days to figure out the issue. I first noticed it when I would try to close my garage door with the MYQ app. It would just spin and not connect, so I figured it was the app. Then, the other day, I tried to use Apple Maps and/or Waze, and it would just spin and not pull up the address. Also, GOOGLE will not load.

I then disconnected from Wi-Fi and CarPlay, and the apps worked. Does anybody have any ideas? And by disconnected, I mean it turns the wifi symbol from white to blue and asks if you want to disconnect.

Also. The stupid "Sound update" made things worse. Anybody else

Good question. I never really thought about it. I know what your probably getting at, but even if it was a free trial, i"ve had the car for 18 months and it's a random date that it would "shut off

I believe the phone is limited to cellular data when the phone is connected to a CarPlay device. There should be no way to connect to a Wifi network and the CarPlay Wifi network at the same time since the Wifi modem in the phone is being used for the CarPlay connection.

I would try rebooting your phone. Sounds like it is not properly routing traffic to the cellular network interface when connected via CarPlay.

I understand, but it worked perfectly until a day or two ago. I have rebooted the phone. But I will try again. thanks . I don't know if this makes sense, but when I am connected to car play, the Wifi icon in the settings screen is WHITE. When you disconnect from the carplay it turns blue and you can no longer use car play

For many reasons I prefer to use the wire.

Same issue here. Never really noticed it before but recently while connected to just CarPlay data on my phone will not work. I'm stumped since I have changed nothing in the vehicle or settings on my phone to cause this.

That is how it should work.

CarPlay uses wifi for the connection to the car. As long as the phone is connected to the car, you cannot use wifi for internet. As soon as the car is disconnected, the wifi modem can then connect to an access point and provide internet.

While the phone is connected to the car for carplay wirelessly, the only option for the phone to have internet access is via the phones cellular connection.

Yeah, that's not correct for my case. It has always done both. Otherwise, it can't use the built-in car play features, like maps. I don't want to use wifi for the internet, nor do I expect to. RIght now, its seems like the wifi car play connection is PREVENTING the phone from using cellular data for internet

I would like to take a closer look at your car play concerns. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage so I can start looking into this on my end?

VIN - 3FMTK4SX3NMA60993 Mileage ~26,600 - And as long as I have you, my sound got worse. Not only the radio sound "rough," but the warning chimes about keeping an eye on the road sound scratchy and not "clean"

Yep, this has stopped for me. Phone is not connected to any other Wi-Fi source.

Yes, when you're connected to wireless CarPlay, your phone uses its wifi connection for CarPlay and does not send internet traffic through wifi, reverting to cellular data instead. If you're not getting internet, it's likely a cellular data issue.

Have you tried disabling wifi outside of your car and making sure you're getting data through the cellular network then?

My apple car play audio is Randomly not working. I’m connected as the map and directions are working and when I look at my music on car screen it’s showing a song playing and the timer is moving, but I get no sound. Also no voice from Siri when I ask to search, but I ask anti and the options pop up.
