Is anyone else experiencing wireless CarPlay issues? We have three phones and all have stopped auto connecting since last update. Plus phones cannot be deleted. Help?

Starting at the top, try these:

1. Reboot Sync by holding down the Volume Down button while pressing the Right Seek button on the steering wheel for about 10 seconds until you see the screen go black and the Ford logo appear. That will probably do it.

2. Reboot each iPhone. Relatively new iPhones can be hard rebooted by tapping volume up, then volume down, and then pressing and holding the side button until you see the Apple logo appear. At this point, I’m almost sure that’s going to do it. If it doesn’t, and only if it doesn’t…

3. Delete the phone completely from your profile editing screen and be prepared to link the phone back again once you’ve deleted it. I know you said it couldn’t be deleted, but there are at least two or three places you can delete your phone from your profile, so it’s worth trying this one if worse comes to worst.

I’m pretty sure you won’t have to go past #1 unless there’s something well and truly wrong.

There are a lot of Carplay Issues atm. It may be a recent Ford PowerUp that caused broke something, or it could be an issue introduced by Apple in one of their recent updates.

Kam’s right. I’m a bit of a ā€œCarPlay Unicorn,ā€ having virtually no trouble with it even with the first beta of iOS 16 all the way through to today, but there are a LOT of people who are having frequent CarPlay issues right now around the time of the Ford Power-Ups that included streaming.

I know mine started around one of the 3.5.x powerups. Apple has pushed a couple of iOS updates in that time as well, so who knows? And things did take a hugely significant turn for the worse (for me) with 16.1.2. YMMV

Most of my CarPlay issues have been in the area of it seeming to take a while to connect after I start the car. I haven't received updates in a little while so I'm more likely to believe it's an iOS thing. I'm currently running iOS 16.1.2.

I have a lot of driving coming up in the next couple of days. My car is advanced analytics so perhaps Ford will get a bunch of data on this? or not, it's still a toss-up as to what will happen with each start-up.

BTW, there's a lot of threads out there on various forums about CarPlay and iOS 16.1 not playing nice with each other for various carmakers.

When you guys (including @Kamuelaflyer in this) say it ā€œtakes a while to connect,ā€ what are we talking about? For me, after pressing the start button, it’s somewhere between five to seven seconds or so before I have the CarPlay screen up. I use it to open my garage door, so I’m pretty dialed-in to when it launches. Is that ā€œa whileā€ to you, or are you seeing twenty, thirty, forty seconds or longer?

It can take up to a minute to connect for me sometimes.

It will connect within a few seconds, as always, or it never connects regardless of how many sync or phone reboots I do. At least I’m pleasantly surprised when it actually connects and works.

I’m almost embarrassed to say that it works pretty much flawlessly for me

Maybe that’s the trade-off. We have functional CarPlay and others have remote frunk buttons. Although, I think poor @Kamuelaflyer has neither!

Yes! On Tuesday, Fordpass told me I had an update and carplay died. I thought maybe it was bluetooth related so I messed with that, only to screw up my PAAK. By this point, I'm 45 minutes from home and my PAAK backup prompt won't come up on Sync and to make things worse, Sync started auto re-booting every 5-10 seconds. I stepped away from the vehicle, took a few deep breaths and finally got the "key is missing" and prompt to enter password, drove home; deleted and re-installed PAAK and now all is good. Just got my GT 3 weeks ago and software updates are happening frequently, but this was first to kill Carplay.
So to answer your question :) , YES, I am one who recently had a carplay issue. ().

My wife was having issues with her iPhone and we just reset her phone and it’s now working.
