I plan to plug my car in as soon as I get home to cool the battery but not start charging until my utility's TOU rate kicks in. Is the ChargePoint Home Flex smart enough to figure this out or will I need a workaround? The CPHF allows you to enter what rate plan you're on, but I'm not sure exactly what it does with that info.
This may be obvious once I have my MME, but I've got time I my hands since I'm not out driving my cool new car. ?

I have a ChargePoint but no MME yet. I know you can schedule charging times within the ChargePoint app. I believe you can do so within the MME or FordPass app as well

Yeah, that's what's causing me to wonder. Mainly if the utility TOU info will cause the ChargePoint to not supply power when the rate is high.

I have a ChargePoint Home Flex on TOU rates. Even if you have the car scheduled to charge, when the car calls for power it won’t get any until the TOU time is available.

The home flex TOU settings won’t let you charge outside of the TOU rate time window unless you override it in the ChargePoint app by clicking charge now or turning off the schedule.

So for example when my wife gets home at 5 pm she plugs in but the car won’t be able to draw any power from the wall until the TOU rate kicks in at 11 pm.

By they way, you can also override the schedule by plugging it into the car twice. It’s quicker than going into the app.

When you pick the TOU rate, it's supposed to set itself to the hours that electricity is cheapest. In my case it was wrong. My weekday TOU best time is 8:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Mine set itself to 9:00 pm to 9:00 am. So I set the hours manually.

The app allows me to select the SRP rate plans, so I would hope they are correct.

Good question. Not sure of the answer. My guess is if you set the TOU plan in the CP app then it won't supply power to the car so no benefit of cooling the battery.

I think you may be better off using the schedule in the car. I have the same need. I plug in at work to keep battery cool yet not charge. Then at home I plug in to keep battery cool while it waits to charge under TOU plan.

There are some conditions where the car will over ride the schedule. I have them listed in my thread about car not charging last night. (Name of thread) I later figured out it was my fault. :)

I think at this point it just uses the rate plan to calculate cost, but I'm not sure. No MME to test with. ??

Not only cost estimates but also when to allow charging.

Don't hope. See what hours it selected. As I said, it allowed me to pick the right APS plan, but did not use the right times.

I'm using the supplied/dumb mobile charger. But I've set charge times via FordPass/SYNC to get SRP's lowest rates on my current plan -- EV charging without customer generation.

FordPass knows about this plan although the names of the plans are out of date. So it is called "Residential - Experimental Time-Of-Use, Super Off-Peak - Electric Vehicle." I think my ecobee thermostat shows the old names, too, so this might be SRP's fault?

Anyway, that works.

If I get a programmable EVSE, I might just ignore the time settings so that the car can manage this stuff on its own.
