Just had my ChargePoint installed. It’s installed on a 70a breaker. It’s only charging currently under 12kw…. And about 29 miles/hr. Is something wrong? Or is this normal?

The charger in the MME maxes out at 48A, which is about 11.5kW at 240V. Were you expecting something else?

Even if the MME could go higher, the ChargePoint Home Flex maxes out at 50A, so that would be a 12kW limit.

That sounds completely correct. I have a 50A circuit with my ChargePoint Home Flex set to charge at the max non-hardwired at 40A and I get 9.2kHw.

Open the ChargePoint app, bring up the menu. Choose Home Charge then Settings. Next, choose Power Source (hardwired) and choose the Amperage (70 for you) and hit save.

Does this fix it?

EDIT: Just reread your post and thought you said it was charging around 12 amps. At a bit less than 12 kWh, that sounds like 48 amps when combined with 240v.

Is this hardwired to a 70 amp breaker? How did you fit the #3 conductors into the connectors?

If you ran #6 you should be using a 50amp breaker.

Something doesnt add up. But the max size breaker for a hardwired chargepoint home flex is 60amp, so something is wrong here. if something happens and the chargepoint pulls too much amperage itll catch fire without the breaker tripping if the breaker is too big.

We use connector ends on #4 wire that fits into the #6 size landing points inside the unit when using a 70A breaker. This allows the unit to function at 50A output which is its highest setting.

The CP 80A unit has provisions for much larger wire. We are installing those at the Safelite locations around the valley. Or we will be.....as soon as they arrive. Haven't seen one in person yet though.
