I had a discussion with a Cadillac dealer regarding the Cadillac Optiq question is 90% the new 80% charging limit?

Generally we are instructed to not charge past 80%. The Cadillac dealership said 90%
Ford says 90% for level 2 charging, never said 80%.

GM tells owners 80%. Maybe you have it backwards?

Ford says 90% because they reserve a top buffer in the battery that is not accessible. So 90% on the screen is closer to 85% actual battery.

80% is the general guidance for NCM batteries. What % people here read the manual?
I own the print version manual in addition to keeping the digital copy on my phone for easy reference. I read it when I don't know something but ask here if I can't easily find it in the manual or a search of the forums first.

Not sure if my 23 manual has been revised since, but here's what I could find on charging.

The way I understand is is if we had full use of all the battery capacity, 80% would be the limit. With us not having full access, 90% is recommended for L2 and 80% for DCFC but of course this topic has been discussed a lot... So charge the way you want? ?‍♂

Sigh...

Ford recommends 90% for NCM batteries.
GM recommends 80% for NCM batteries.

OP had the issue reversed.

Has nothing to do with DC fast charging, or versions of manuals.
