Often charging port door has to be pressed a few times to lock it.

is there any mod that can be done to lock it first time?

Try lubricating the receiving section with silicone spray.

The mod I did to make mine work (almost) always on first try was practice. I had the same issue at first and thought it was a problem with design. After a bit of experience, it almost always closes on first try for me. Should I need to train myself to close it? Maybe not but it was pretty easy to learn. Easier even than learning to close the frunk on first try.

It's a crap design that unfortunately exists on many of their current cars.

The difference of course being our ports probably get opened and closed on a much more frequent basis than an ICE vehicle and therefore more prone to wear and tear.

Could they have designed a door that feels more solid? Probably. Did they need to do so? We don't really know yet. Time will tell. In the 11 months and 3 weeks I have had mine, the charger door has been just fine and is none the worse for wear. Hopefully this will still be true in the coming years. If it does not list through the warranty period, a repair should be under warranty.

Push directly over where the plunger is.
Had my car for a year and now that I’m familiar with where to press it closes consistently. Not getting any weaker in my opinion
