I just got the check 12V notification on my 2022 at around 35.5K miles. How imminent is it that the car will become at risk to not start once you get this notification? Should I not drive it at all until I replace it or is there some time to play with here? Is there any way to know this?

It’s like an oil change reminder, just schedule it in the next month. Not super urgent.

My warning came Tuesday night, I called the dealership on Wednesday. I was told my battery was putting out 14volts and reading 70% healthy. I was advised to come in to put the battery on the tester. And the tester showed that the battery should be replaced. I replaced it today.
I didn’t want to wind up bricked somewhere because the battery failed particularly because of the cold winter weather, I figured I was at higher risk of that happening.

Agreed. I drove it today with no issues thankfully but have an appointment tomorrow to replace it. They asked if I’d rather test it first to see if it’s good and I said don’t bother it’s 3.5 years old just replace it. I’m out of warranty so it doesn’t really matter, either way I am paying for it.

I got the warning in the app early December. Car is a 2021 built in December 2020 so the battery was 5 years old.

I ordered a replacement battery and before I could install it the warning in the app went away.

I drove around for 2 weeks before I had the chance to replace it. No issues during that time.

After replacing the battery, tested it on a battery tester and it came back as still good, Multiple repeated tests shows anywhere from 69-78% state of health. So in theory it was still good for continued use.

Where does the battery warning appear? Nothing in the app.
I drove this morning on an errand, but went out at lunch to a dead pony. I guess I should have expected the 12 volt battery to die as I've had it nearly 5 years.

You will get the check 12V battery message in the Ford app (nothing will show up in the car). The message will only work if you have vehicle data sharing enabled. So either data sharing with Ford was turned off, or you had a rare sudden failure of the 12V battery.

Also, are you sure it was the 12V battery that caused it? A dead car can also be caused by something else like a failed HVBJB.

Thanks for the reply. I had AAA come out and tested the battery. It is dead. Nearly 60 months since delivery, sounds like I was on the edge of battery life.
