hmm the car will throw those kinds of errors when the 12v battery is low. It's conjecture but I'd wonder if they put in a "new" but discharged battery. Ask to see the date code on the battery they put in and ask to see what the car says the 12v battery state of charge is. Don't accept BS, they know how to answer those questions. The battery should be new within the last few months. the 12V State of Charge needs to be something higher than 50%... I'm betting it is low.

$495 for a battery that you can buy on ford.com for around $130 and have delivered to any dealer. Wow, total rip off! $259 diagnostic that you can get for free at any auto parts store?? $174 for the 30 minutes to swap out battery and reset the LVB state not terrible I guess.

That battery is roughly $134 and change at most Ford parts counters. Clearly, you've been subjected to the "EV Owner Tax" by your dealership.

well.... the "new" battery is a ~year old and likely discharged... they need to put it on a charger to bring it up.

also make sure they did the BMS reset procedure after installing the new battery. i'm actually not sure what happens if you do the BMS reset on a new battery that hasn't been properly charged though. it's probably better if they make sure it's charged all the way up before doing the BMS reset.

They kept the car, so im hoping they do their job properly and know to do all these things before giving it to me again sometime this week. But who even knows anymore.

Its been a long day for me just for a 12v swamp out. Smh

Hey yall, I am at the dealership right now for the 12 volt battery notification i got from the app. It failed there test and needs to be replaced.

I went to Tasca Ford in NY for it, and the price for the entire service is about 1k. What exactly is the Battery Terminal Service? I asked the guy and said its recommended since replacing the 12V, but didnt go into anymore details.

Do these prices seem correct to you for replacing? Just generally curious.
- 12v : $495.08
- Battery Terminal Service - Perform BG Battery Service: $174.75
- Also charged $259 for diagnostic — which is the first time im ever hearing about this for EVs or in general while coming here.

Bare with me as this is the first time ever having to deal with any of this.

That's about double what it should be.

Our 12v recently died while I was kayaking out of cell phone coverage, so my wife had the Mach E towed (covered under roadside assistance) and serviced.

issue now - they did the battery change, and when i drove off, not even 2mins later i got all types of warnings and errors popping up - that wasnt an issue before me going to the dealer.

Sounds like you tried to skate by without paying the additional $450 "Extraneous Warning Suppression Fee". Next time, don't be such a penny-pincher!

I just paid 200 in total for battery plus I installation and my dealer came to my house and I stalled it in my driveway.

Some dealerships have no issue with destroying the brand 1 customer at a time.

For no reason other than they can, they will soak the customer for as much as possible. And add insult to injury by giving lousy service as well.

There's no excuse to install an undercharged and stale inventory battery in the Mach-E, and care nothing about the customer returning within minutes, only to send them away again keeping the vehicle.

Years ago it would be a story of outrage.
Today it barely raises an eyebrow.

Fortunately, I discovered my battery was "low" due to multiple failed updates back in 2024. I was still with in the 3 year warranty at the time so it was replaced free of charge.

I will keep this in the memory bank when I need to replace the next one; if out of warranty! I think I would just change it myself.

When 12v battery shopping recently I had a quote of $450 from one dealer and $174 from another. Went with the lower ofc, service did a subpar job but left a screwdriver in the frunk that was rattling around on the drive home. SOC was 61% when I got home so I left the car on for 4-5 hours and got it to 100% then did a BMS reset.
