I’m sitting in my 23 MME with it turned off, including the accessories. I have my key in my pocket. I can hear frequent clicks from the dashboard area, as if it’s turning things on, then off again. I presume this has to do with auto lock, and the fact that my key is still in the car (?). I am wondering if it’s wearing down the 12v to a point I should worry about, and if so, how can I make it stop.

To be goofy - why are you in the car with it off? Leave the car and it will stop. I am not sure it is due to you sitting in it but some of the more knowledgeable members may know for sure. I can hear it too from time to time when I park in the garage. It is contactors which are up front behind the dash. I do not think it will drain your 12V. I think it may just be going through a process after shutting down. Now if you have your fob in your pocket and you keep walking around your car that may be an issue as it will lock and unlock. I am not sure if there is a limit to how many times that will occur though.

It may be that Megan is sitting in the car admiring the beautiful mid century modern Danish inspired interior design. If that’s the case, I totally get it, it’s stunning. Of course whether a design is stunningly beautiful and graceful or hideous is in the eye of the beholder. I enjoy looking at my electric Mustang almost as much as I love driving it.

To your point Mike, when I hear the clicks and tacks, I too presume they are sounds relays, connectors and whatever else is in there make as they turn systems off and on. It’s a bit like the EV version of an ICE car’s cooling off ticking sounds I think. My car works, it does its thing, so I don’t worry about it. I just accept it’s part of the EV sound track.

That’s the ABS unit and it’s normal. You’ll hear the clunks when the car wakes up, and again 10 minutes later (or 10 minutes after shutdown).

Thanks for the replies! And I sit in my car a lot, waiting for the kid, a bus, Godot, whoever. When it’s nice out I like to have the windows down and see no reason to have the car turned on if I don’t need the HVAC.
