I waited 15 months. Count yourself lucky if yours hasn’t been built yet.

Oh, it's been built. On 5/24. Yep, the last day of the recall period.

Good times.

15 months is a long wait, but you ordered before they even started production. I ordered during the second model year. That's pretty embarrassing for Ford.

11 months snd change after ordering I got the car. It’s the way things are now and will continue to be for some time. Unfortunately.

According to this article at The Verge, existing owners will get a software update for the fix “in a month or so”:
Yay for power reduction! ?. Unfortunately, contactors don’t have software so the only way to fix an under spec’d mechanical device through software is to reduce the power going through it.

Yes….those with a heavy accelerator foot will be unhappy.

Since RWD vehicles like mine have only one electric motor, they must be immune from the problem since they're incapable of drawing anywhere as much power as AWD or GT vehicles, right?!

If it was known to be immune, then Ford wouldn't include the vehicle in the recall.

Hahaha! You're giving Ford too much credit. I doubt they fine-tune their safety recalls, which are mainly issued to cover their legal liability.

My theory stands: It's probably not possible for a single-motor RWD MME to overheat the high-voltage battery contractor...

I suspect Ford performs a not-insubstantial engineering causal analysis before electing to include 100% of Mach-E's built into any safety recall. They will act out of an abundance of caution, yes. Going any further than that would be burning money and pointlessly damaging to their reputation.

I'm not at all saying that I'm nervous about this happening to my vehicle, which is a RWD standard range... It's less likely to have any issue than your vehicle, because Ford limits standard range RWD current through the contactors significantly more than they do on your extended range RWD vehicle. Both of us are probably fine. But Ford's included all vehicles with the faulty assembly into the recall group, so to me this indicates that the expected occurrence of failure while we're driving the vehicle is somewhere north of 0%, even on our vehicle trims.

If you ordered 6 months ago, you're doing much better than most - congrats!

As far as embarrassing, Ford is experiencing the same thing as every other manufacturer. I'm sure Ford and others would love nothing more than to get back to a normal production timeline, but they can't control the raw materials and components supply chains. Good news is that relief is forecast to begin later this year.

Nope. Ford is particularly bad.

For example, Polestar is quoting Oct delivery for an order placed today.
