Howdy folks, my 2023 GTPE has run into some coolant pump issues so I wanted to check here to see if anyone has had similar experiences. Here's a summary of what's going on:
  1. After just over a year of ownership, I brought it in for the 10K maintenance and everything went fine
  2. 6 days later, I got the dreaded "Service Vehicle Soon" message on the dashboard followed by a powertrain fault message in the Ford Pass app.
  3. After half a day at the dealership, they identified that the fuse powering all four coolant pumps had failed and needed replacing (see the original diagnosis video from the dealership)
  4. Today (the next day), they got the replacement fuse and were able to test the pumps and found that two had failed. They'll hopefully have the replacement parts by Tuesday which should hopefully be the end of this.
I realize I'm pretty fortunate to be getting replacement parts so fast compared to other posts I've read. I'm curious if other people have had a similar issue. Should I be concerned that this came up so soon after the 10K maintenance? Or is it most likely an unhappy accident?

For poops and grins, these were the DTCs I pulled from car scanner right before leaving it with the dealership:

P0D1B(00) [0x0D1B00]

Most likely a coincidence since the 10k service is just a tire rotation. 20k is that + a cabin air filter. You don’t really need to take it in until 150k for the ATF in the electric motors.

Ford Pass lists "Inspect cooling system level and strength" as part of the 10K maintenance. That's why I was wondering if they could have been related. Thanks anyway!

That video felt like he was going above and beyond to explain what the situation was. Kudos!

Yeah! The EV tech at my local dealership is super thorough. The same one also provided a video after fixing a TSB that was causing a red ring of death on my charger port.

BCMC failure, that relay box controls all the EV accessories like the pumps and valves. Not common.

I got my Mach-e back today so I figured I'd post the final details on the report from the dealership. Ultimately, the BCMC and two coolant diverter valves needed to be replaced. Hopefully no one else has a similar issue, but if they do then hopefully something in this thread helps provide a little information.

My original DTC codes were - SOBDMC, U069E, U0637, U06B3, P2796.

Also, if you're in the Northern Virginia area then I've had only good experiences from Sheehy in Springfield. They did a phenomenal job keeping me updated on progress and providing videos along the way.

To be clear, the parts listed indicate they replaced the BCMC and the two 4-way diverter valves, not the coolant pumps (title is misleading). About $1200 in parts alone here.

Correct, I'll update the title for anyone coming across this in the future. There was some miscommunication and misunderstanding between me and the service advisor at the dealership about what was actually being replaced after the BCMC was replaced.

I just got the Service Vehicle Soon message and my dealership has also identified a Coolant Diverter Valve code. They need one day for the mechanic to confirm + two days to order parts + three days for the fix. Bummer. I hope they know what they are doing......

FWIW, I've driven a little over 1000 miles since having the work done and haven't had any issues. I never got a clear understanding to what caused the failure in the first place. But my car is driving fine and everything was covered under warranty so I'm not complaining.

And as interesting data point, my issues were roughly the same mileage and time - 12 months and ~10,000 miles.

Thanks for the encouragement. My wife is a bit pissed since she thought EVs had fewer parts and fewer things to go wrong (maybe I told her this). Regardless, she is not happy having her car out of service for about a week while they fix it (and no loaners available).
