I think you are correct. I had three windshields replaced at the same time. My agent said OE glass was required for the Mach-E because it was a Premium trim model. For the Jeep, I had my choice of OE or aftermarket. I chose the Mopar OE glass because it has the original military Easter egg Jeep etched into the glass down by the lower right corner.

For the Super Duty pickup... I didn't care and told him to use whatever is available.
Related: Years ago, I had a tree limb fall on the hood of my Accord. Hood was replaced and insurance paid. A month later and I get a call from my insurance company. ”The body shop didn’t use OEM parts like they were supposed to. We’re sending you a check for $328.”

I understand that recalibration is required after replacement of the windshield. I will have my windshield replaced at Safelight and then take it to Ford for the Panoramic Roof and Windshield recalls one week later. Is it reasonably safe to forego the recalibration at Safelight with the expectation that the dealership will do the recalibration? P&T.
Safelite was able to perform the calibration. Or at least they claimed they did it. I got a certificate in the mail for my records. Might all be BS but at least I have documentation in case I ever need it for any reason. (I highly doubt I will ever need it though....)

The recalibration thing is such a scam. I've had dealers tell me it is required too. My favorite thing to do is prove them wrong with their own tools (WSM). I actually read through it before replying to you because I wanted to make sure the mach e wasn't different for some reason. I know the older vehicles the IPMA was the windshield camera but the new F150 and Mach-E have the whole separate computer and the windshield camera is just a camera now.
Hello. Would you provide the source of information that states recalibration isn't required. Please and thanks.

Edit: So they updated the workshop manual now to say after a windshield replacement the alignment should be performed. IT was NOT this way previously. However I think it is insane because unless you get the error message it will auto-align as you drive. $375 for an alignment is ridiculous. You can buy a knock off scan tool and 2 day FDRS license and do it for less than that yourself.

What's weird though is the WSM says the IPMA is in the front of the vehicle under the dash which is false....but then in the removal shows it in the correct place. Rear left of the vehicle.

Below from earlier in this thread:
The workshop manual.

In the removal and installation guide the very last line says "If a new IPMA camera has been installed, carry out the camera alignment using a scan tool."

There will not be a new camera installed, therefore you will not need the alignment.

Also the dealer will charge an hour of labor to do the camera alignment even if it was necessary. Not $375. The alignment is only necessary if the IPMA or IPMA camera are replaced, OR the IPMA has new software put on it.

You only need an alignment if you get an error for it. Otherwise it adjusts as you drive.

I updated my IPMA and I didn't need to align the camera either.
Thanks for replying but there really doesn't appear to be a source that directly states recalibration is not required. It's somewhat moot if you're using Safelight because they mandate recalibration. If one refuses recalibration, they won't replace the windshield, period. It just doesn't make sense to have them do it and then have Ford redo it the following week. We don't want to unsettle the "Regional Calibration Managers."

That's dumb. It's just a cash grab in most cases. Problem is Ford edited it to say it is recommended after windshield replacement now but before they did not.

The Ford Workshop Manual section 501-11 has instructions for removal and installation of the fixed glass (which includes the windshield). Step 21 is the calibration step for the Imaging Processing Module A.

I would expect a glass shop to follow Ford's instructions and perform the alignment procedure if possible. That being said, it doesn't mean the system won't still work if the alignment step isn't performed. It probably will......but Ford says to do it so most will follow the instructions.

The key is the acoustic glass and the infrared resistance. Everything else is fluff.
