Only had my Mach-e for 2 months but am surprised the charging cord coupler (handle) doesn't lock to my car when charging in public or at home.
Did I miss some info on how to do this, or did Ford not think of the need to lock the cable to your car?

I don't think there is any situation where an L2 charger will be locked by the MME. It can always be removed by pushing the button on the cable and removing immediately.

I agree, it would have been nice to have this feature --- at least as an option to enable, perhaps by charging location just like max charge does now.

However, Ford perhaps decided against this because a really determined person who wanted to interrupt a charging Mach E could damage the charging port / cable by really pulling against the lock held by the car? (Just guessing on that reason).

My wife's PEHV automatically locks when connected. We have to unlock the car door (button on fob) to disconnect whether at home or public. But I have once had someone take the charging cord from my MME when I was away and thought i was charging. Seems like something they should consider adding.

My wife's RAV4 Prime did that too, but it was incredibly annoying so I disabled it.

It's only needed in public, right? You lock your car and walk away in public lots. But I agree it can be annoying.

I haven't found that I need it anywhere. I've never had anyone unplug my car and wouldn't want the annoyance of constantly having to unlock the charge port on the off chance that some day somebody might. But I can see that the option would be useful for some people, so it would be a good option to have as long as it could be disabled.
