Never been a fan of 1PD for this exact reason. This is a variation in brake response depending on how fast you are moving and the model. In my volt in 1PD the car creeps forward but not in my I3, my Etron and MachE don't have 1PD engaged at all. The Etron in particular does not have creep forward so it will roll backwards when you take foot off go! Been several fender benders due to this. On my I3 1PD almost caused numerous accidents in icy/wet weather as when you take food of accelerator the 1PD slams on braking before you can feather it esp. going down hill. So dangerous I refuse to let my minor children drive the I3 at all. Even my wife will not drive it in poor weather.

I hope the whole 1PD thing goes away or at least becomes optional add on. The most efficient drive mode is to let the car coast/free wheel. 1PD prevents the car from its most efficient mode of operation.
It is "optional" already as it is, one would have to explicitly select it to use it. I understand where you are coming from but I think your views are somewhat extreme. I don't use 1PD as well as brake hold either, for the sake of consistency between the two vehicles I drive daily: the other one is a Honda Odyssey and a relatively consistent brake response (even though some have complained about MME's blended regen/friction brake implementation, it felt natural to me from day one) reduces the chance that I might make a mistake when I can least afford to; as for brake hold, I actually like the feature but when parking the minivan in my garage I have only inches of clearance so I leave it off in case I need to move forward by another inch or two (with Honda brake hold defaults to off at engine start, I only engage it if I am driving on a route with lots of traffic lights); MME is ~27 inches shorter so clearance should never be an issue, but out of old habit and the fact that toggling it on/off requires drilling down a couple of levels on the touchscreen menu I have left brake hold off for now.

Just an FYI for the future, for the Hold function, it doesn't activate when the vehicle is stationary. You have to FULLY press the brake pedal all the way to the floor to engage it. If you come to a complete stop with the brake only partially down, it won't engage.
My brake hold works with the vehicle in drive, and I just have to have my foot on the brake, not as you describe it. All the way to the floor means that you have not brake fluid.

Unfortunately no on the Mach-e. Check it out when you are going downhill and slightly over the speed limit the car will brake and revert to 1PD drive mode.

And you don't press any pedals, and the car is not in cruise control? It slows down by itself?

I have to go downhill every day, starting on my driveway ? by the time I arrive at my kids' school there is a 350 ft drop in elevation. On one section of the drive, where most of the elevation change occurs, in Engage mode the MME would hold steady at 50 mph without any input from me (and I expect it to accelerate slightly in Whisper mode, which has minimal regen), not much different from my minivan which would gain maybe 5 mph over the same stretch of the road. Even among ICE vehicles there are variations on how they behave on the same stretch, from time to time I see drivers in vehicles ahead of my van hitting their brake pedals frequently, just so their cars don't accelerate more.

You equate any level of regen to "one-pedal drive". They are not the same thing, not even close.

Don’t confuse some minimal amount of regen when “coasting“ with that of 1PD driving.

The baseline amount of regen varies with drive mode. Unbridled is fairly aggressive, while whisper is almost all coast
Yes, but aggressive regen in Unbridled isn’t the same as one pedal as far as I know, and from what I’ve read here.

This is why I ended up turning off 1PD. I had no trouble mastering it quickly and enjoyed using it. But that created new muscle memory, and I expected deceleration when I was driving my wife's car. Since I regularly drive both cars, I turned off 1PD in the MME so my muscle memory would be the same.
I’m curious to try it but wonder about exactly this since I do drive both of our cars right now depending on circumstances. Like @generaltso, not sure that I will want to develop a muscle memory specific to each car, particularly one involving something as critical as braking.

I swap between 3 cars regularly, only the MME has 1pd. Never have any problem adjusting.

I had no trouble switching between my Bolt EV with its one-pedal driving and that of our Highlander Hybrid and the need to use the brake pedal. After 35+ years of knowing how to use the brake pedal, it was pretty well ingrained. I can even still drive a manual transmission when the occasion arises.

That’s just because you’re AMAZING!!

Just wait till you get old. Or you get distracted and startled and run into the car in front of you while waiting for an automatic car wash.

It could happen to anyone.

I haven’t been amazing for decades. I also have an advantage: only 2 automatic car washes. Neither are touchless and both are 50 miles away (in opposite directions), so those aren’t happening.

Seriously, I live in about as rural an area as can be. I have plenty of time to get used to the lack of auto hold and the existence of creep before I get anywhere near a public road.
