Custom license plate ideas

Not in WA. They just take longer.

I applied for my plate in NJ on Oct 8th; got the approval on Oct 20th and they said 8-10 weeks. Got my plate yesterday Nov 26th!

Nice, I was always thinking of getting a personalized plate, but the Quebec Govt goes deep in one's wallet for those... too deep for my liking, so I'll just stick with the regular plate in green colour instead!

I find 255$ just to get the licence plate kinda pricey (even if cheaper than some other jurisdictions). And then they slap annual admin fees of 35$ on top (what the heck for???).

For plain old personalized plates in NJ it's a onetime $50 fee. You can also get "cause" (cancer research, wildlife preservation, etc) plates that cost an extra $50 or so a year.

In Illinois (after January 1, 2020) you're forced to buy an Electric Car license plate that is $100 more than regular plates (BEV's don't pay motor fuel taxes) and you can't get personalized or vanity plates. Bummer.

Just got confirmation today that we were able to get DQDT for the wife’s Mini after weeks of delay. She’s a physics teacher and there’s already a local Tesla with DVDT.

DQDT is definitely the better choice! DVDT is too obvious and too adolescent male.

Here in CT the lead time for vanity plates is 8 weeks. My build date (as of today) scheduled for 1/24 so I placed my plate order today. If my timing is off I guess I just slap it on my current car and watch everyone wonder what it means....
