I suspect I know the answer but will still give it a try... My "tesler" friend got into a pretty bad accident recently. The other person tried to claim that my friend ran a red light. Turns out, Tesla records everything and you can even rewind recordings to the moment of the accident, which is obviously very helpful. Is there anything like that in Mach E?

Not currently, while it would be nice, I have also seen people on Tesla and Rivian forums that went to check the video and found it didn't record for whatever reason.

You can get a Dashcam for about $150-200 depending on features and quality and manage the recordings pretty easily.

Don't get me wrong, Tesla's system is solid and we should have it at this point, but the most important thing is recording what's ahead of you when on the road like your friend's situation, and dash cams are plentiful.

I’m pretty sure Google will point to one of the hundreds of threads in this forum.

The answer is no.

No, the Mach-E's hardware is not capable of that. The type of cameras and angles we have are also wrong (you don't want fisheye cameras because you can't see details like plate numbers). You can install a 3rd party dashcam and a dashcam battery pack if you want it to record while the car is off.

Has anyone looked at/installed the ones offered through Ford Accessories?

I don't own a Mach E (yet), but I've been doing some research on accessories, and I'm a FIRM believer in dash cams. One suggestion I have is to purchase one with GPS based time synchronization, as other cams that I've owned that doesn't have this feature have had the time drift, which may cause issues with using it as evidence. I did come across this adapter, that will let you power a dash cam from the mirror's power, without needing to snake a long cable around the windshield:

https://www.amazon.com/Dashcam-Explorer-Expedition-Auto-Dimming-connector/dp/B0CT31Q5C8

I also came across this nice looking cam designed to fit seamlessly with the rearview mirror base, but I haven't done enough research on it to see if it supports GPS time synch:
https://www.amazon.com/Fitcamx-Suitable-Mustang-Recording-G-Sensor/dp/B0BDRVVZVL

Looking forward to officially going the Mach Ee crew soon!

*forgot to mention that this is the current dash cam I'm running, and it's been great so far:

I had an earlier version of this camera (Rove) but I gave up on it after about the 7th or 8th time of having the suction cup release, coming back to my car to find it either hanging by the cable or falling so hard it disconnected itself and was lying on the floorboard. Other than that I thought it was a great camera, clean, sharp videos.

Yeah, I never use the suction cup with dash cams...always the double-sided tape.

Ditto. I also don't like the gray adhesive tape that almost always comes with dash cams (I'm on my 4th dash cam now). The gray color is too visible from outside, so I bought black tape - 3M 5953 VHB - in both 1" and 2" widths and replace the stock adhesive. Since using 'stick-on' cameras I've never had one release, even during long, hot summer days in the 90s and even 100s.

The mach-e’s current camera system are far less than optimal for providing usable footage that could identify thieves, fault in accidents, and the like. Try testing it while you’re in the car — have the car running and the camera page up and running. Next, have someone walk towards the car and around it while you watch the screen.

There are a lot of good dashcam systems available. I’ve used the FitCamX, both front and rear, for quite some time with great success.

I have the front and rear FitcamX on both my Mach E and my Lightning.

2025 MMe by chance? When trying to get a fitted sunshade learned the windshield changes a bit from 2024 to 2025. Not sure if that impacted anything for the installation.

Did you do the installation for yourself? After watching the YouTube video I feel fine doing the front, not so great about routing along the headliner/interior.

They redesigned the front camera cover, so the fitcamX may no longer fit perfectly.

That’s what I’m worried about. On ordering page they have instructions to send an email with model & year and a pic of the backside. Will see what they say.

2021. Yep. Just watched the YouTube. Only issue was reinstalling the A pillar piece.
