Hi all,
My 2023 Cal Rt 1 wont charge at DCFC chargers. It does not recognize that it is plugged in. It happened last month, and the dealership determined it was a “faulty charger” - not the car (despite the fact I told them I tried different chargers at different locations).
It worked fine charging on their L2 charger - they did not have a DCFC at the dealership to confirm their diagnosis ?
It’s been a month, and charging fine at home (L2).
I tried charging it this morning on the way to work at a DCFC and same thing happened - charger did not recognize it was plugged in.

I'm at the dealer right now, and, of course they do not have a DCFC charger, they are charging it right now on their L2. I have an appointment to bring it back when they can look at it.

Anyone else had this problem??
Thanks

What you are talking about currently is DCFC from EA or other provider OTHER than Tesla. Which the car currently doesn't charge on the Tesla Super chargers without the NACS adapter.

If you are using Plug and charge at the DCFC you are attempting try going to "Chargers" -> find a location -> activate the charger from FordPass FIRST. Then try. If I had to guess you have the same Plug and Charge issues I have, it doesn't work. You should also check your status in Connected Service -> Blue Oval Charge Netowork and make sure you have a car on file that is active.

My first reaction to your post was "user error", but I see you've been a member here for almost 1-1/2 years. Have you been able to charge successfully at DCFC locations in the past, and this problem has only now cropped up? Have you tried multiple branded locations, EA, EVGO, Chargepoint, etc. with the same result? Does the charge station begin to initiate and then gives you a message as unrecognized, or does it not begin initiation at all? If you know for a fact that all is set up correctly on your end, have you tried calling (EA, EVGO, Chargepoint, etc.) customer service while at the charge station?

@CalRt1 , could you please edit the thread title and body of your post and replace “supercharger” with “DCFC”? We don’t want to confuse your issue with the numerous complaints about Chevy bolts and their drivers ???

Sorry all! Yes I meant DCFC charger. I have tried all mentioned suggestions. Still no luck. I have , up until now, successfully charged with no problems.

How far does it get into the DC charging process?

Faulting after a few seconds is very different from not recognizing the CCS1 plug is not connected. The connector need to click and then the locking mechanism needs to trigger. We need more info.

It will not click therefore does not recognize it. I tried and tried but no luck. Different locations. Different providers

Have you taken a good look at your charge port for damage? Here's how to clean it and give it an inspection: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/how-to-clean-your-charge-port.29901/

Also inspect your charge port locking mechanism to make sure it's still intact: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...icator-in-the-ipc-and-or-multiple-dtcs.21850/

If the locking pin is damaged, the car won't allow DC charging. If you send me your VIN, I can check for codes.

Update:I looked more carefully in the charger port and saw this inside the left dcfc pin. Should this be there? Looks like a small black cap or something. Really a tuck in there - don’t want to force it, if it’s supposed to be there - pretty damn sure it’s not which explains why it won’t click.
Thoughts?

NOPE. Should look like the right one. What is that? Melted metal or a rock? Can you pull it out with forceps? Pins aren't live so you can touch them.

Looks like you have something rusty jammed in the border by the J1772 port too.

Why am I not surprised the dealer service people didn't bother to look at the CCS connector? Heavy sigh.

It probably won't dislodge whatever that is, but I'd use a can of compressed air to blow out any gunk around each pin. Then start poking around with physical tools.

Hopefully, if he pulled that thing out with, I would use chopsticks if I could try not to use anything metal try not to electrocute myself. Quick question on charging at Tesla or any of these places can you leave the car running and sit inside with the air conditioner running while you’re waiting or do you have to shut it off totally and go hang out somewhere I’m new to this so I’m getting my station set up at my house so I don’t travel a lot. I’m just gonna be using the free miles whatever in the future thank you in advance

It's recommended to turn off the car but you can leave it on while charging. It will slow your charge speed down, but it won't be a significant difference if you are fast charging at a DCFC station. It could be noticiably slower on a L2 charger.

When I DCFC, I go inside the Walmart or whatever is nearby and shop, eat, pee, and leave the car off intil it is ready to go. You can monitor charging progress using FordPass on your phone.

Makes sense I appreciate you for answering that but like I said the most I travel is about 250 to 300 miles a week no more than 25 miles from the house so the only reason I’ll use some of that free kilowatt hours is just so I don’t use my house power For almost 800 miles I guess thank you
