True but my dealership claimed they had never even heard of any issues with the Ford mobile charger.

If more people take their chargers in for replacements Ford may update the design so they aren't losing as much money replacing people's EVSEs.
Ford is definitely aware, this is all over the forum. Most dealers can't replicate it the issue because they're not as awesome as your dealer and aren't willing to install a 14-50 so they just say it worked for us on 120v and send it back lol.

I'm pretty certain that they have no intentions to redesign it at this point. They've clearly labelled it as a mobile charger and offer the Ford Connected Charge Station or whatever it is called as the supposed "daily driver."

I'm just happy they still include one with purchase. I mean, I'm sure part of their price increase calculations took the mobile charger into account, but it is still nice when other manufacturers raise the price a bunch without a charger.

Update. Ford has warranty replaced my charger. They found that my previous charger had something burnt out inside the evse. New charger working great. Nomore amber light of death, and I am charging on 240V at a consistent 20-22 miles per hour. ??

Congrats on getting it replaced under warranty. The sad fact is that it will probably damage itself. It simply was not designed to be used daily or in hot environments. ??

I agree with you. The mobile charger needs a redesign. The good news is at least we can get a replacement if/when our mobile chargers fail.

I just picked up my Mach-E. I have charger issues... I have a dedicated 50amp 14-50 circuit, Hubbel outlet. Air temp about 75. When I first plugged it in to outlet I got amber light. I them plugged it into the car and unplugged from 14-50 outlet, and re-plugged and it worked. No components ran hot. I got in two charges, then after second charge was 100% complete, the amber light came back, and has not gone way since.!@#$. The charger works with 120V plug.

Also also bought a Grizzl-E and also getting a fault light @#$!. The circuit was tested when installed by an electrician and it read 125V, 125V and 250V. I asked my electrician to come out and see if there is an issue with the circuit. But that will take a few days.

I also had a chat with Grizzl-E support, and still trying to see what they can do, when I purchased they said I could set it to 32 amp on the 50 amp breaker. On the support call, then said the recommended setting is no more then 20% difference, so I set the dip-switch to 40 amp, and it did not help...

Would hard-wiring the Grizzl-E reduce issue with setup?

I went through exactly the same issue with the mobile charger. It was working fine for months then suddenly I started seeing the Amber light and reduced rate of charging.

My neighbour three doors up lent me his FMC from his MME which had never been used. His FMC worked perfectly, therefore I assumed my plug/circuit and the vehicle connection were just fine.

Went to the dealership and explained my symptoms and test and the EV tech ordered a new one for me, which took two months to arrive here in Canada.

I purchased a Grizzl-E and it is working A-OK. The FMC is now the backup charger for me.

For the past month I've been intermittently getting the amber light and no ability to charge. Very frustrating. Made a service appoint and bought an aftermarket charger on Amazon because I needed more miles before the service appt. Then I stumbled on this video and sure enough, the adapter plug was not fully plugged in (flush). Not sure how that happened but the charger works fine now, 9 months old.

Well, had the same problem after 6 months of it. I was only getting about 10 miles/per hour. Took it in when I had the issue of not getting any updates because the APIM was faulty and they tried to install the software patch (during the process, they brick the IP module, and waited four weeks for a replacement). Well, anyway back to the charger. They said it worked fine for them.

Took it home, same issue. Went to a neighbor who had a 1450 plug in his garage same problem, so at the 20,000 mile service, I brought it in. They said, no problem, though I could see on my Ford app, they had it plug it in for 45 miles and got only 9 miles added. I guess next time, I will say, plug it in, leave it plug it in and show me. Yes, they are going to say, we cannot let you in the service area, insurance policy. Take a video of it then.

This same dealer cannot do the two recalls for the roof and windshield because they cannot get the special glue from Ford. Over a year.. Anybody at Ford Corporate has any idea? And driving 2 hours to another dealer is not a good answer.

This is why the included bracket should be mounted to the wall so it holds the charger body securely. If the charger dangles by the cord it will work loose with time.

Thanks! we seem to have lost the bracket. This explains what happened.

I finally got around to installing a 40 amp line to test my mobile charger and it worked fine for over 2 hours at the expected rate of about 20-22 miles an hour.

I noticed with my new 23 that the last 2 digits on the model number changed from AE to AM. From made in China to now made in Mexico, and the handle is much more basic as it is all black, instead of the noticeably heavier, white and black with blue ford logos on the 2021.
