Customer cars are being given priority over FCTP cars which will help a lot with delivery.
Can we really make that blanket statement? We know that some customer cars are on their way, and I assume those are the small number that Ford is sending via special shipping arrangements to get SOME sold in 2020. But other than that small number, will customer cars be given priority over FCTP cars in the normal shipping process? Maybe, but I don’t think anyone has said for sure.

Agreed but looking good for January!
Mine was supposedly built on 16 December. I’m just hoping it gets here by the end of February. My current car’s registration expires then and I don’t want to pay to renew it if I’m not going to own it very much longer. Besides, I don’t think I could get into the DMV anyway in the next month. VA is crazy!

Maybe we should start a virtual betting pool, my guess is they will show up first or second week of Jan to the dealers. It looks like they start to ship next week, so given the holidays I am thinking two to three weeks after that.

At this point, getting cars sold and actually in the hands of customers would be better than demo cars at the dealer. The dealer most likely have delayed payments and a steep discounts. I would guess anything that is built at this point will make to the dealers in Jan. Ford is no small organization, even with COVID they will find a way to get cars to the dealers.

My day was 12-17, I am excited and when it gets here it gets here. Later is fine, less road salt and winter muck. I have already conceded that the tax break won't be this year.

I look forward to getting out on the open road, it will give me something new to do. Since this involves my own inside environment no covid to worry about.

Yes, and those who know have said so.

They have? That’s great. And I’m not saying that’s not the case. I just can’t seem to find any posts that have said that all customer cars will ship before FCTP cars. If that’s the case, FCTP cars probably won’t be to dealers before summer, right? There are still thousands of customer cars rolling off the line that will then get pushed ahead of the FCTP vehicles (which I’m totally fine with). Sucks for all the people that were waiting for a test drive before deciding whether or not to order.

It's like traveling space available on an airline. You only get on board when nobody else with an actual ticket has one of those empty seats and is there to take it. FCTP cars may ship at various times, but they'll be on standby at every point in the distribution system until there's actual space. For now, and for the foreseeable future, there's no space.

This sounds great. Did I miss an insider post with these details?

My build date got moved UP a week (early Feb, to end of Jan). I don't know how that's possible, given what I'm reading here about other orders being delayed.
Waiting seems like torture, but once we get the cars, it'll all seem like a blur.

Don't be surprised. Ford is moving heaven and earth it seems. My rotation number moved up 400 spots a couple of weeks ago and my car popped out of production yesterday, 10 days after being sent to the plant (as promised in October to be the 12/13 build week).

That‘s great! So no FCTP units will ship until all the customer cars ship?
That sounds impossible to me.
I think the idea is customer cars will be prioritized when possible.

However, we will know pretty soon. There are enough of us here with cars built and some are stock but most are retail so we'll see what happens.

Hence my question. I think the most plausible answer right now is that we just don’t know.
Agreed. To my knowledge, there is nothing in the window sticker to communicate to the loaders which cars are demos and which are customer cars so unless they sorted them in the parking lot it is going to be an impossible task.

However, we do believe that cars built after 11/23 are almost all customer cars so maybe they can ship those first? There are other concerns though such as tires going flat, protective cling wrap baking in the sun, parasitic drain on the 12v batteries etc. Leaving cars parked that were assembled months ago has its risks. As VW learned recently....

Add in the fact that Ford gets to recognize the revenue when the vehicle ships means it really doesnt matter if it is a customer car or not.

My guess, first cars shipped are custome cars that are built now, then the pre-OKTB, then any cars built from this point forward.

customer cars are being sent before demo I didn't say anything since ron already said it. Customer cars before dealers.
