You said: "I mean this seriously but I doubt many veterans seeking help from the VA can afford an EV."

I respectfully point out that you're behind the times. A veteran with a 100% disability rating gets around $3,900 a month, tax-free. You can increase that with aid and attendance of housebound pensions, too. Tens of thousands of them, like myself, are also military retirees. Full retirement, medical retirement, TERA, etc. These folks also draw military retirement. On top of that, they also get Social Security. So there's a lot of double and triple dippers. I'm a triple.

So do you also believe you deserve free electricity from the government? And yes my father was a retired vet, postal worker and getting disability due to agent orange and my brother has ALS from service during the Gulf war so I know some vets are well off. But when you go to a vet center you can still see many in need and there is not enough money to go around. Our opinions just differ I guess on free electricity so I will leave it there. I will finish by saying thank you for your service!

I mean this seriously but I doubt many veterans seeking help from the VA can afford an EV. If they can hopefully they are like myself and have a home EVSE where they get the best price for electricity. I do not think there is enough money already to support the many veterans in need that we should spend additional money for the few who can afford an EV. I am fortunate that I was able to use the GI bill to get an education and have a successful career after serving so I will not need the benefits so many other veterans remain in need of. Once again just my thoughts.
I have seen at least several plug in hybrids, and one Tesla in patient parking areas, and used Leafs and Bolts are getting pretty affordable. My VA has a couple EV parking spots for government vehicles (probably so administration can use them when going to the satellite clinics) that look like they're just level 1. Making such things available and marking out where they are would be worth looking into, especially when building new facilities or renovating.

@FadeOutLines ,

I was just looking at the picture of the parking spot that you provided.
The paint is very faded. It might be worth asking management to repaint it and use brighter colors (the cliché bright green, maybe) to make it more clear that it is a special purpose spot.

If they cannot or will not, and your crazy like me, you could volunteer to purchase the paint and tell them that you'll volunteer to only paint over the existing faded paint.... and stay within the lines ?.

P.S. I'd also get them to approve the color before hand and give you documentation of their approval of that color and you repainting only over the the existing, faded paint.

Repainting the lines is an excellent idea, but unfortunately, it is not a project I can take on.

After I retired, I was diagnosed with lung disease. So, I shy away from paints, solvents, etc. Who knew that breathing in dirt, sand, smoke, diesel exhaust, and depleted uranium dust was bad for you?
Maybe they can have their maintenance person tackle that.

Understood. My original thought was if the free charging wasn’t in such a prime spot perhaps jerks would not block it. Also being free there were jerky EV owners abusing it. Also the apartment wasn’t enforcing the restrictions. Just leads to conflict from my perspective but I understand the why of it and I would always let others take advantage of those opportunities.
No problem with that.
However, we must remember this not public EVSE but PRIVATE EVSE and they are permitted to do with it as they see fit, methinks.

You are correct! Just pointing out how it was implemented was causing issues because it is free and its location. Not to mention lack of enforcement!

They are allowed to do with it as they see fit...... as long as that complies with local and federal laws AND the agreements and obligations made to the lease holders that they have provided the amenity for.
This is not a private tool or amenity that was installed solely for the use of the property owner and their employees. This is a feature or amenity that is provided, presumably advertised, part of the sales pitch, and/or part of the lease agreement for the use of their tenants/lessees. There may even be verbiage that amenities must be offered or made available unencumbered (not having any burden or impediment).

I would be tempted to use one of those metal valve caps with the head on that allows removal of the Schrader valve in his tires and remove the valve from one of his tires. Of course that might be considered vandalism or incite road rage. But at least it would not do permanent damage to his car.

Oh, don't get me started. That is a broken system!!! On the provider's side; "We" are tired of the Veterans coming in our office, NOT FOR TREATMENT, but to document some common problem they may have such as flat feet or heel pain and want to make sure it is documented that it is related to their "service". It's a game to them to get more money.

Don't get me wrong, I truly appreciate the sacrifices they have made and continue to make. But, for them to try and "game" the system for my hard earned tax money to fund it. The 1st thing I tell them is I am here to help them feel better (Physically) and if they are after a rating or bump in disability go see their VA Doc. LEAVE THE PRIVATE SECTOR DOCS OUT OF THIS NONSENSE.
