So I think you are saying that departure time pre condition will not work while unplugged and I have checked start while unplugged
That is correct. If the car is not plugged in when your pre-set departure time is reached the car will use remote start instead of the full preconditioning. That means the cabin will be conditioned for your departure time, but the battery will not.

I have my departure times set for both going to work and coming home from work. Going to work it is plugged in so the car conditions both the battery and the cabin, but when I go home it is not plugged in and the Ford Pass App tells me since the car is not plugged in it used remote start to condition the cabin only. And, yes, I also have "start while unplugged" box checked in the car too like you.

My remote start isn’t working when the car is plugged in. Can I only schedule a pre-conditioning when plugged in?

I can't help the OP, but one reason why the car might not precondition the battery when unplugged is because it doesn't make sense to warm the HVB using energy from the HVB itself. The point of warming the battery if it's below a good operating temperature is to improve efficiency, but maybe it's just not efficient to do that without external energy. It's kind of like robbing Peter to pay Paul, when Peter is Paul.

My remote start will work when plugged in, too.

I have been having a problem with departure times the last few days too! I’ve had my car for months and had the departure times set and working for all that time. I can see the times are set in the app and in the car. The last few days though it has not started at any of the set times. The car hasn’t been plugged in for any of those times, so maybe it’s just doing the remote start due to vehicle unplugged. Yes the option to start when un plugged is on. Today I’m going to plug it in and see what happens.

Im also not getting notifications that charging is done. That stopped around the same time. Im thinking it’s an issue with the latest FP update.

Correct, in that it won't precondition when unplugged. It will remote start.

My guess is that it's much more efficient to warm the battery while the car is moving as it's my understanding that heat generated by the motors can be used to warm the batteries.

I only set up spot departures as my schedule is random. Of the few times I have set all precondition settings as discussed (with warm cabin selected too) my car has never been preconditioned. Also the car has never remote started in lieu of preconditioning.

An aside is that I am no longer receiving charged notifications (last few days).

Departure times have stopped working via the FordPass app after updating to 4.11.0. Not sure if that’s related.

Since I've gotten some OTA's and FordPass updates, I don't see the setting to remote start if not plugged in and my car isn't doing it when precondition is set and I'm not plugged in. Has it moved somewhere else? Didn't see in my settings and Remote Start is turned on so I can manually remote start but it doesn't automatically do it anymore

I have the remote start button whether or not plugged in, and whether or not connected to Bluetooth. Currently, in this screen shot, I'm not plugged in or connected via Bluetooth.
