@Liv, watching your video was very helpful and appreciated, but it actually had the opposite effect on me at first than others here. I ordered the OCD protection before I watched and thought it would be good. Once I saw your video, I got extremely hung up about bubbles and streaks on the screens. Watching you working with the little spray bottle looked tedious too. I just couldn’t bring myself to install the film. Last weekend I was working on applying XPel door sill trim on our Subaru. I used Griot’s Garage interior cleaner to moisten the film. It went on great with no bubbles or streaks. That got me thinking about the screen again. I pulled the MME out this morning and sprayed the screen lightly with the cleaner, wet my fingers, then did the same with the film. Like others here, working around the dial was the worst part, but I was able to nearly perfectly center the film and got all the bubbles out. All said and done, no streaks, either. Same for the driver display. Forty minutes of work in total. Thank you for this and your other contributions to the forums.

Oh no I'm so sorry it made you hold off! I think maybe my excessive liquid use should be a cautionary tale! Yours looks absolutely amazing! Well done!
They were kind enough to send us the dash screen protector and the dot for inside the dial BUT it arrived the day after we had to drop Blucifer off at the shop. So I'll be doing a short update as soon as we get it back and do the dash screen with waaaay less liquid!
Thanks for sharing! Looks so good!

No problem at all! I'm just glad it's done and I don't have to look at pesky fingerprints all over the screen anymore.

Thanks for the compliment! :)

What was in the cleaner? Was it water based (polar)? They recommend soapy water, correct? I have the film on order so I will be doing this too (except for the driver display).

I had the OCD film installed by the PPF installer to make life easy for me. Just a word about it... certain angles of outside light hitting the film it looks dull or not as clear , glossy as the original screen. Just would have liked this to be not matte. Sharing my opinion now that it’s installed. Have it over a month and far fewer finger smudges and generally looks alright.

I've ordered one. It'll go in my file along with the license plate frame and bumper plugs until the car arrives. Your comment about the matte nature is my general "concern" as well. I'll see how my OCD handles the smudge factor in the first week or so of driving then make the call. (That means it'll go on)

Thank you for the idea! I’m having an Xpel “bra” put on mine and they’re putting on the body side moldings and the Ford protective film on rear bumper so I’ll add one more thing. The matte finish doesn’t bother me as these screens have been used on my iPhone and iPad.

Griot's Garage Interior Cleaner

Ingredient List

A drop or so of Dawn might work just as well. I happen to use Griot's Interior Cleaner, so I might try that. Just depends upon my mood at the time I decide to apply it. ;)

Thanks. I was just wondering if there might be a solvent that reacted with the screen. Apparently it did not react or damage the screen protector.

Yeah like @Kamuelaflyer said, just one drop of dish soap in a sprayer full of water should work perfectly. I feel super confident about applying the driver screen when we get the car back, now that I know to use less soap!

I'm with you on the matte finish. I have that on my iPad and I VASTLY prefer it to gloss. It's a different feel for sure but I do art, 3D modelling, and all sorts of stuff on it and notice no degradation so I most certainly didn't have any issues with it on the car screen.

Want to thank @Liv for her video. I learned from both her technique and mistakes. Mine looks great and was super easy to put on with the help of the video.

A few suggestions:

1. I did go out and purchase a larger spray bottle which came in handy for a couple of other projects for the Mach-E. Worth the $1.99 from a local drug store.

2. I used a small table just outside the passenger side door to prep the protector with the soapy water solution before I put it on the screen. Found that much easier to do than to do it inside the car.

3. The large towel Liz used to keep the water from getting all over was excellent advice!

4. Made sure I did not forget the Vol. button circle.

Excellent product and I found OCDplug had one for my 2017 Mustang Premium 8 inch screen which I have ordered.

Yay I'm so glad my tips AND mistakes were helpful! I'm literally just about to go install the matte drivers screen protector now and the OCD Plug was nice enough to send a circle too!!

I just installed the screen protectors and really like them so far. We'll see how I like it under various conditions.

Install was straight-forward. I have other spray bottles but found theirs was fine. I only had to refill once. Watching your video gave me more confidence I could do it right. Thanks!

I have the pillar protectors too. Just debating whether to install them myself while I'm at it or have the detailer do it when Marlin goes in for PPF this week. Since I don't have a garage, dust, pollen, etc. are more of an issue here than they would be in the detailer's enclosed workspace.

Liquid Armour works great. reduces fingerprints and hardens the glass to H9 hardness, so not quite diamond resistant. Takes a few minutes to clean and apply. Let it dry for 30 minutes. in 24 hours it completely cures.

I've been using that on my cell phones for a few years. Makes the glass much more durable.

So glad your install went well!
We actually recently did DIY PPF and the A pillars were one of the easiest parts, in my opinion. At least with the XPEL PPF, I'd do that portion again in a heartbeat. There were definitely some other areas that I'd rather have a professional do.
Then again, since Marlin is already going in for PPF, might as well have them do it.
