Why not post the process to document it publicly? There will be people who find this post months later who will need the same help. These are smart people, why do you need to help them individually?
The page is nothing to get excited about. Everything they talk about in preparation to receive it is exactly what my vehicle has been for the last two years. Other than of course, recently getting 6.14

And Ford says basically you will eventually get it, lol

Consider for a moment how this appears to others:

You appear as a brand new forum user. Just registered today. The _only_ posts you have are posts asking people to send you a PM. Then you are offering to "help" people, but ONLY if they send you a PM.

Meanwhile, people who have been on this forum for years and are well known to have established "inside info" are unable to help with this specific thing.

Doesn't that seem suspicious?
I don't blame yourself nor anyone else for interpreting it that way whatsoever.
You're absolutely correct, it definitely does seem a bit ... off, so I appreciate yourself bringing this up to so others can possibly feel comfortable, if they decided to do so.

I too have "inside info" with the right contact(s) who can support with this exact thing. The exact problem where even concierge /support staff members have no idea how to help.

With that being said, the "inside info" and "inside help" will enable this App for those who do not have it, hoping to solve a problem.

Can you be a little more transparent with the process? Is it something done within the car? Do you need a VIN? Something on the back-end? Do you need access to our Ford Account?

The process is having the VIN to push out the update. hence the reason to send a message. Publicly posting VINs just floating around wouldn't be advisable.

Oh, I see. You want VIN numbers from forum members. Holy crap. You are a piece of work.

Nobody should send this person your VIN. He does not have the ability to push anything to your vehicles. Nobody except Ford does.

I got 6.14 back in March on my 2022 and haven't seen Charge Assist or Public Charging on my car. I understand it isn't a game changer, but anything to help with charge anxiety should be available to all. I don't believe much of what Ford says when it comes to OTAs (BC, 5-second limit, etc, etc, etc), so anything I can do (reasonably speaking) to 'un-stick' the process...

The real irony is the amount of VIN numbers that have been publicly posted....

Nor would sending a VIN to new, anonymous stranger in town be advisable.

Mike is 100% correct. ZTomR is shoveling BS.

Time to put up the Star Trek shields and terminate ZTomR’s account.

Well, ZTomR, if you did show up to help, your approach was a little to cloaked in mystery and triggered everyone's spidey sense.

That could be Gary, but I don’t know that folks gave their VINs to mysterious people offering secret sauce as a cure all. This situation doesn’t pass the smell test IMHO. And I understand your comment does not mean you suggest it does. You’re simply pointing out a perceived irony.

I checked around and it turns out Zed is legitimate. He really is trying to help, and from what I understand, he can help the forum members who have this issue.

So I sincerely apologize, and I recommend those with the issue PM Zed and then report back when their issue is resolved.

Well if that’s the case I apologize too.

Sorry, but I'm still paranoid. Zero history on the forum. Just registered today. 100% of their posts are "I'll supposedly do something for you that no one else can, but we have to talk about it in private."

Considering the number of VIN numbers that people post in public asking for OTA/firmware checks in FDRS, there's no reason why this also can't be done in the open.

I agree, which is why I reacted the way I did. But I believe he can work with the people who can release the Public Charging app to those who don't have it but should. The VIN is required to do it, and posting your VIN publicly is a bad idea.

The bottom line: if you are uncomfortable working with him, don't do it. But based on what I found out, I would share mine with him if I had the problem.
