I had a chat with a Ford EV specialist regarding Charge Assist. She said it is now called Public Charging and that I have it in my FordPass and in my MME. I see nothing labeled Public Charging in the app or in the MME. Anyone else have "Public Charging?
Button is labeled as "Charge Assist" and when you select it the title on the top of the screen shows "Public Charging".

I'm sure that's what she meant to say :) I can't believe Ford's own employees have no, or incorrect information about the app.

I don’t have this showing in my car anywhere either. I’ve had the car a few weeks, it has received one update (the one ā€˜preparing for future updates’).

Yeah, well I don’t have it…..! Bill P
I figured out the problem, Ford does not like people named Bill, with a last name starting with P.

I am up to date with the latest Tesla P&C update and have the feedback app. No Public Charging, and in my Fordpass app I still do not see the Tesla P&C enabled.

IIRC it shows the maximum speed the charger is capable of, not actual speed. You can see actual speed in FordPass. It also does not precondition the battery. You have to find the charger in the nav in order for preconditioning to work.
So, is there any real benefit to this app?

The name is in the process of being changed from Charge Assist to Public Charging.

there is absolutely no chance that will get confused with the existing "Charging" app. ?

I don't have Charge Assist, but I got an update that says I can now use the Tesla chargers. The map shows them too. But no charge assist. I also don't have the adapter until May. Hopefully I'll have Charge assist by then.

I have charge assist but the inability to use while driving limits its usefulness. Maybe I am doing something wrong or there is a setting somewhere, but you can't use it while driving as it is locked by the safety nanny. Isn't that the whole point to be able to find charges while traveling? Okay so I'll use it for planning. Nope, is shows the chargers closest to you, so there would have to be a lot of scrolling.
So I guess I need to pull off the highway, find my charger when low on battery and then get back on the highway. The functionality is great and provides a lot of useful information, but you really need to be able to use it while driving for it to be useful.

Checking back in here. I got 6.14 a couple weeks ago and the release notes specifically call out Charge Assist/Public Charging being added but it’s still not in my car. I submitted audio feedback via the car a few days after I got the update since it still hadn’t showed up.

Anyone else on 6.14 still without Charge Assist/Public Charging?

While driving you use your Nav. When you pull up to a charger you use charge assist. So you pull in, park, activate the charger in front of you and you are done. Thats what charge assist does, activate the charger without accounts, key tags, or anything else. I have no membership to any charge network, I have no apps on my phone, I just pull in and activate my charger. No other EV can do this, its a handy feature.
