Does Charge Assist exist?

I am up to date on updates for my 21 job 1 car and I still don't have the charge assist app.

Do you have the charging app?

It is either called Charge Assist, or Public Charging, depending on software version. I have heard on this forum, that some cars still have neither of these apps installed. Mine was called Charge Assist, until a few weeks ago - now it is called Public Charging.

I had charge assist on sync 640 but it didn't work. Sync was updated to 7xx via dealer and the app is gone. I know i'm pretty far behind on sync still.

Still missing on my 2023 - September build. I tried engaging two different Ford people using the chat function; neither knew anything about an icon on the sync screen. Both thought it was only in FordPass.

Checking back in here. I got 6.14 a couple weeks ago and the release notes specifically call out Charge Assist/Public Charging being added but it’s still not in my car. I submitted audio feedback via the car a few days after I got the update since it still hadn’t showed up.

Anyone else on 6.14 still without Charge Assist/Public Charging?

The 6.14 release notes state where you can find Public Charging. I still do not have it in my 2021 Job 2 after 6.14 was installed.

Yeah, it is very suspicious. A brand-new forum member asking for personal PMs? I don't recommend anyone respond to him. It is highly likely he is a scammer.

Unless, Zach, you want to prove me wrong and post here what you think you can do about this.

So, is there any real benefit to this app?

If the charger is an "in-network" charger (in the Blue Oval Charge Network) then you can activate the charging station using the Charing app in the car and it will bill to the payment method on your BOCN account. This means you wont have to download yet-another-charging-network app for every place you might charge.

A secondary benefit is that SOME of those charge networks have you add a debit balance on the account that they drain down as you use it ... and then "refill" the balance if it gets too low (e.g. below $5 then maybe it refills back up to $20). When you pay through the BOCN then you only pay for the ACTUAL power you used ... you don't top-off the account to leave a balance on it.

Because the app was a phased roll out (see link below from Ford), there may be some customers without the app and I'd like to help. Of course, up to the forum members if you'd like to or not.

Consider for a moment how this appears to others:

You appear as a brand new forum user. Just registered today. The _only_ posts you have are posts asking people to send you a PM. Then you are offering to "help" people, but ONLY if they send you a PM.

Meanwhile, people who have been on this forum for years and are well known to have established "inside info" are unable to help with this specific thing.

Why not post the process to document it publicly? There will be people who find this post months later who will need the same help. These are smart people, why do you need to help them individually?
