I recently got this error and it doesnt go away, reset error codes, it comes back. So fine, the module is toast. Except that everything works 100% for now.
Service takes a look and the guy at the counter goes "some sensor is getting wrongful information and the whole unit must be changed". No fault but there is a fault, I call bullshit.
I'm out of warranty so it is 500 euros out of my pocket. So they change it and I ask the old part for myself and I take it apart.
There is obvious water ingress and water damage inside. The PCB has protective lacquer but it is applied poorly and doesnt protect properly. This isnt made by Ford, the manufacturer is Magna (Canada).
So we have water inside the door that goes inside the actuator unit. I think it shouldnt do that.
We all know this isnt a single occurrance but fairly common one. There is no recall, there is no TSB. This is my 2nd replacement. First one was covered under warranty.
Has anyone gotten these replaced on Ford after your warranty period?
