I recently got this error and it doesnt go away, reset error codes, it comes back. So fine, the module is toast. Except that everything works 100% for now.

Service takes a look and the guy at the counter goes "some sensor is getting wrongful information and the whole unit must be changed". No fault but there is a fault, I call bullshit.

I'm out of warranty so it is 500 euros out of my pocket. So they change it and I ask the old part for myself and I take it apart.

There is obvious water ingress and water damage inside. The PCB has protective lacquer but it is applied poorly and doesnt protect properly. This isnt made by Ford, the manufacturer is Magna (Canada).

So we have water inside the door that goes inside the actuator unit. I think it shouldnt do that.

We all know this isnt a single occurrance but fairly common one. There is no recall, there is no TSB. This is my 2nd replacement. First one was covered under warranty.

Has anyone gotten these replaced on Ford after your warranty period?

Oh sure, this is a pretty common issue. My incident was post warranty and I paid to have it fixed. Now I get the same message again. I suppose I'll wear out the OK button sometime but I sure over time i'll get used to it.

Sorry to hear about this issue and thanks for posting the pictures. Given it seems other Mach E owners have had the same issue, I wonder if Ford improved the part. If not, is there something an owner can do as a preventive measure to avoid it on a new Mach E like mine or by modifying the replacement part. I have no idea how easy it is to get at it but if possible, could an owner put some better sealant on it to prevent water getting in?

I’m writing from the Netherlands. I also had the same issue almost a year ago, I paid about €480 for the new module (driver door) and labor, including VAT, plus another €160 for the diagnosis. As I understand now, the €160 was a gift to them since this is a well known issue.

A week ago, a year later, I now get the same warning!!! I take the car to the same dealership and I get a quote for €556! Very frustrating.

Anyone have a preventative measure for a new Mach E owner to take to keep this from happening? I suppose best to wait until my standard warranty expires though.

Mine in my 23 model has been replaced once under warranty. But I’m sure like others it’ll happen again. Especially since I use the car wash once a week or so.

load97 - How did you get them to fix it under warranty or did they offer it themselves?

Mine was replaced under my extended warranty. Door lock failing and door flinging open while driving, they didnt push back at all.

"door flinging open while driving"

Ouch...not surprised they didn't push back
Yeah it was fun. The door started to fault, and within a day or so was just faulting every few min, on or off.

The 2023 loaner has this message every time I start the vehicle. Seems like everything is fine after I press ok. How is water getting inside? Is there a way to prevent this?
