I bought the most expensive Premium I could. I didn't think I needed the GT. But now all these little things are popping up that came standard on my Dodge Charger 2017 that I am now missing.

Does the Premium not come with an Electrically adjustable steering column?

No MMEs have an electrically adjustable steering column. If you got a Premium, you aren't missing out on anything compared to the GT/GTPE expect for performance and, on the GTPE, MagneRide. The interiors are different materials and the GTPE has significantly different seats, but other than that, all the tech, adjustable things, etc. are the same (assuming you get fully loaded, which is BlueCruise and pano roof options).

Please don't take this the wrong way, but did you ever check out the specs on the car and the available features?
An informed salesperson could have answered this and any questions long before a purchase is made.

Again no disrespect is implied,

Tony

I cared more about how they cared for the vehicle when they got it to the dealership. I thought something like this would be standard in 2022. (Along with cooled seats...)

I would venture to guess that an extremely small percentage of new cars in 2022 have a power steering column standard (or even available).

Well, you know what they say about assuming. Lesson learned, for sure, could have been worse.

Initially I bought premium as well and was disappointed about interior quality. My current GT has better materials and overall better build then my premium. Ford just called this trim “premium” for marketing purposes and did nothing to match this name. Unfortunately no one trim has electrified adjustable steering wheel.

What was poor with interior quality? I've noticed nothing "better" in the GTPE than my old Premium. They were different materials, sure, but the build quality was the same and I didn't find the pleather used to be poor compared to other cars that use pleather. The seats breathed well and were very comfortable, although no real bolster support for zipping around.

Electrically controlled steering columns are still pretty much in the minority. I have recent model high trim level Hondas and Acuras, and neither have it. Nor any of my recent VWs.

I would say that the materials are of uniformly high quality. There are some subtle areas where Ford cut costs:
  • Premium ICE mustangs that I’ve driven have ventilated seats. The Premium Mustang Mach e does not
  • Premium ICE Mustangs have proper fore and aft tilt power seat cushions. The Mustang Mach E does not
  • The Escape has a reclining rear seat back. The Mustang Mach E has a fixed position rear seat back
  • There is no rear ambient lighting in the Mustang Mach E (this was depicted in the early promotional materials)
Don’t get me wrong - it’s a great car and I love it. If you look closely though, you can see the areas where Ford had to make the decisions to contain cost (I’m looking at YOU remote frunk release ?)

Luckily I don't have this car anymore and I cannot make a video review. In view words, the leather looks and feels cheap, nothing close to the premium. Even my 2015 C-Max has better leather. A lot of squeezing noises from door panels and other plastic parts. Bad stitching on the steering wheel and seats. Terrible noises from suspension in stop-and-go traffic and over bumps like a car were 20 years old. Much loader wind noise on freeways. Liftgate misalignment and the wrong color. Few brush marks on the hood under the clear coat. Not properly installed seal weather on the rear door. Big gap between the headliner and glass roof. The smell inside was not like a new car but like a can of glue was spilled somewhere inside. Also, bad smell like a mold when turning on AC after a few days car was not in use. For a brand new car with a "premium" name, it was unacceptable. My GT is absolutely different, I found only a few imperfections.

I feel that the steering column is a set it and forget it item. I don’t think I have ever seen an electrically adjustable one.

The first Lexus I drove had two position buttons that adjusted the seat and steering column for each person. It was my brotherinlaws car and I had to try it. I got in and pressed 1 and nothing happened. He was the last to drive it so it adjusted to the same settings. Then I of course pressed the number 2 button. The seat started moving forward and up at the same time the steering column was moving closer and down. His wife is alot smaller than I am. This did cause a few minutes of panic as I pictured myself becoming much less of a man as the steering wheel and seat got really close.

thankfully it was only panic and no trip to the emergency room.

Mechanically adjusted steering columns are just fine by me.
