My last three Infiniti's two Q60RS and Q50RS had electric steering column but no cooled seats which I found out of line for a $60k car. I would take cooled seats over electric steering column anyday. My wifes 2015 Nissan Murano has cooled seats.

Luckily I don't have this car anymore and I cannot make a video review. In view words, the leather looks and feels cheap, nothing close to the premium. Even my 2015 C-Max has better leather. A lot of squeezing noises from door panels and other plastic parts. Bad stitching on the steering wheel and seats. Terrible noises from suspension in stop-and-go traffic and over bumps like a car were 20 years old. Much loader wind noise on freeways. Liftgate misalignment and the wrong color. Few brush marks on the hood under the clear coat. Not properly installed seal weather on the rear door. Big gap between the headliner and glass roof. The smell inside was not like a new car but like a can of glue was spilled somewhere inside. Also, bad smell like a mold when turning on AC after a few days car was not in use. For a brand new car with a "premium" name, it was unacceptable. My GT is absolutely different, I found only a few imperfections.
Sounds like your premium was a lemon.

I would say that the materials are of uniformly high quality. There are some subtle areas where Ford cut costs:
  • Premium ICE mustangs that I’ve driven have ventilated seats. The Premium Mustang Mach e does not
  • Premium ICE Mustangs have proper fore and aft tilt power seat cushions. The Mustang Mach E does not
  • The Escape has a reclining rear seat back. The Mustang Mach E has a fixed position rear seat back
  • There is no rear ambient lighting in the Mustang Mach E (this was depicted in the early promotional materials)
Don’t get me wrong - it’s a great car and I love it. If you look closely though, you can see the areas where Ford had to make the decisions to contain cost (I’m looking at YOU remote frunk release ?)
They definitely cut costs on lots of the materials. Not many things in the car are robust nor durable.

They had to hit a price point to make the car competitive and they did.

Not sure how many would have ordered if we got our whole wish lists, but every trim was $10,000 more.

People on the forum here like to complain about the interior in “a $70,000 car.”

But they forget it’s really the interior in a $40k car. The only reason it’s $70k for the GTPE is the performance.

Kinda like how the GT500 isn’t a luxury interior either. It’s built on the base mustang platform.

I'm pretty sure every car I've had since 2009 has had an electric steering column. That said, it's kind of silly unless it's part of an ease of access set up. Set it and forget it works fine, unless there's a regular swapping between two wildly different seating positions.

Odd. I’ve had my premium for well over a year, drive it pretty much every day, and had have not experienced any of that. In fact, when the car is left out on a warm day, it still has that new car smell! ??‍♂

I feel that the steering column is a set it and forget it item. I don’t think I have ever seen an electrically adjustable one.
This is a true for most people. Where power settings on say the steer wheel are really nice is with memory seats. I am 13 inches taller than my wife so as you can guess my settings for the mirrors and steering wheel are very different. Power adjustable rearview mirror and steering wheel would be great as they would go to our settings when we swap drivers. We swap between our 2 cars on a pretty regular bases. Big time on the mach E as it is near once a day as I WFH so the ICE car stays at home and my wife takes the Mach E. Then we are together as a family I tend to drive so all the settings to my settings.

Before the Mach E yeah my wife and I tended to only drive our cars and who was driving was based on the car. now we have the family car (Mach E) and the other car (ICE). The drivers are swapping all the time so all the settings as well.

I bought the most expensive Premium I could. I didn't think I needed the GT. But now all these little things are popping up that came standard on my Dodge Charger 2017 that I am now missing.

Does the Premium not come with an Electrically adjustable steering column?
Hopefully I’m not hitting too close to home and if I am I apologize in advance. In my opinion unless you have a big gut you need to clear while getting in or out of the vehicle then power adjustable columns are a waste of technology. I mean in all seriousness you adjust it and leave it alone. ?

We have easy exit, so that’s not why it would be needed/wanted.

Only benefit I see would be for multiple drivers. Each person would have a memory setting for the wheel.

In the OP's defense, the Tesla Model Y (main competition) has a electrically controlled steering column. It's main usefulness is that I set my profile, my wife sets hers, and everything moves automagically to adapt to which of us is driving. That said, it's not a deal breaker at all and to be honest the MME has more standard features that most anything else I put it up against.

I think it would more useful to have a powered rear-view mirror so that position could be tied to memory seating. But I've never seen that on any car.

That would be cool - was thinking the same thing when we were short a car waiting for the MME and I had to keep hot swapping.

It's just a neat feature. If it's an all electric car, having something, anything, non electrically controlled seems sloppy to me.

I can't wait until Lincoln and Cadillac start pumping out EVs and I can't wait until manufacturers start pumping out true performance EVs. The downside of the Mach-E is that it tries to be too many things to too many people. Personally, I couldn't care less about cooled seats or an electronic steering column. It's supposed to be a mustang not a focus, escape, explorer, aviator, or navigator. Give me an aggressive seating position, responsive handling, a tight suspension and a respectable lap time. Save the luxuries for the geriatric brands.
