Elon musk claimed in the Cybertuck launch event, "[The Cybertruck] can tow a Porsche 911 across the quarter mile faster than the Porsche 911 can go by itself". Additionally, it was claimed vaguely that the CT was also "faster" than a Porsche 911 (which some may interpret as top speed, others may interpret as higher acceleration)
Engineering Explained gets nerdy as usual to break down the claim vs. the reality.
I just wish Tesla would be honest. Towing a car during an 1/8 mile drag against a Porsche 911 is already a pretty cool marketing stunt, so there was just no need to yet again lie. Also, it would have been a cool stunt if they'd just pare the CT against the Porsche sans towing, which would have made a real 1/4 mile really exciting! I wish auto manufacturers would just stick to the facts about EVs, as this just provides more FUD to the naysayers.
