We spent 12 days visiting friends from Mn to Texas. The car performed great and we had a very economical trip down thanks to mooching 110v charging and some free chargers. Seemed like we bucked a good wind most of the trip so we averaged only 2.7mi/kwh with a lot of 75 mph driving, but our MME is not exactly an economy car. I think it figured out to just over 50 mpg overall figuring $3 gas. I suppose there aren't too many cars with this kind of performance that get that kind of mileage. We used EA a lot under their plan for a month, but otherwise some places it would have been $.64 a kwh. I would like to know how that's supposed to work, at 2.7 that's like an ICE getting 12-13 mpg. Locally I see a lot of new chargers coming soon, but I'm sure they are planning these high rates or are there going to be so many maybe they will have to start to compete. See some new chargers with big rates that no one seems to use after their free grand openings. I welcome anyone to explain this situation, that's 10 times what I pay to charge at home. I don't mean to complain, but it takes some planning to keep the cost reasonable. Tonight I saw that some study by Emission Analytics claims that EV's emit 1850 times as much particulate matter from their tires and brakes as their gas counterparts. Give me a break! I can almost count the number of times I've actually used my brakes in 43k miles. I suppose it could be true for the rubberless OEM Pirelli's that wore out in 17.5k, but now my continental extreme contacts are at 7/32 of 10/32 new after 26k miles. We got a chance to test drive a Cadillac lyriq. Very nice, but I almost thought ol' Sally was tighter and more solid. I wish I could borrow the COOLED SEATS and the electric steering wheel. It has 500hp but the mustang has gobs more torque so it sure felt like it would beat the pants off it(for 5 sec anyway). A more luxurious ride but I didn't care for the over 900 extra weight. Sorry to bore most of you.

Yes, it takes planning to minimize charging cost.

That's impressive that your GTPE gets 2.7 mi/kwh on the highway at 75 mph. I can get about 2.5 mi/kwh when I drive under 70 mph on the highway, and only 2.2 mi/kwh at 75-80 mph. I just took some long drives and measured the efficiency carefully.

That was overall so when you're crawling through Austin I think it was showing over 4mi/kwh and then we also had some 60-65mph roads, too. I'm just going by what the car says so that might be optimistic like most cars.

Yeah I'm lucky to get 2.5 on the highway as well. I even adjusted my ABRP to 2.5 for a better estimate of charging stops ?

My first choice was the Lyriq, but from the owners forum decided the availability and software might mean 2025 before things were really ready. I would be interested in a more detailed assessment/comparison of a Lyriq. I also expect a compaable model would be and $12 grand more.

I also meant to say that the efficiency you stated would seem pretty accurate for my car also.

I was specifically measuring the driving efficiency on the highway, with no city traffic included.
