I don't understand, what is the problem with being a little conservative? It seems to get fairly accurate as you drive. Is your complaint that it is so low when it does not have any driving history to feed it?

My range changes from about 280 to 320. (I have premium, RWD extended range.) it is totally related to my Phoenix A/C usage.
The GOM is way off and genuinely meaningless. It’s never gotten even the slightest bit more accurate on my car. My AWD ER has never broke 200 miles on the GOM. Even on a round the island journey.

"Extended Range Lowered"

Upon reading that I expected to see a discussion of an ER model with the ride height lowered...

I pay attention more to a couple of things. My mi/kw and my miles per battery percent. I currently average around 3.3 mi/kw and usually around 2.814 miles per % battery usage. They both equate to close to 290 total range at 100 percent. This is the realistic range of my car and gives me a better idea on how far I can continue to go before charging.

My problem is that every new owner thinks it is gospel and comes on here to rant about their car not getting the range "ford promised". You and I are experienced to know that mi/kwh is much more variable on a BEV, thus we recognize that the GOM typically is conservative so we don't try to go too far. That is a good thing from that perspective, but a bad thing because Teslas flat out lie to owners and always report a bogus number.

Since very few reviewers or purported "experts" like munro bother to do one iota of investigation, the falsehood that the Mach E is short of its range and Tesla meets theirs becomes "truth" to would be buyers.

It's also a problem because it seems like every damn day there's another thread by a newbie bitching about it, and as @trutolife27 mentioned the veterans that can give good info and advice stop doing so because it's the same thing every day

In the OP's defense, his GOM got reset when that module was replaced. He wasn't complaining about not getting the advertised range.

To be clear, I am very pleased with the way Ford does its GOM, being conservative.

Is there a way to actually check if the battery degraded? If there is, that way OP can check if battery got damaged.

I imagine one test could be to complelty deplet it, and charge it to 100%, then you can see how many kw your car "fill"

This.

My last round the island trip started at 100%. The GOM showed 210 miles at 100%. That's the highest it's ever shown and hasn't shown it before or since. We finished at about 32%. 230+ miles. Miles/kWh around 3.8 or over 305 miles for 100%.

GOM is a bad guesser.

I'm sorry that we are newbies and have questions. What is the point of a forum then?

Ask away, it's the ones that don't try to read first but just ask when it's right in front of them. Really what's the point of threads is correct. best to delete the next day after posting right?

I have a hard time believing resetting my driving history would start is below the original target. When I first got the car before driving anywhere it was nearly 300.
It can easily. Look up mileage history discussions. The system is very pessimistic. When I first bought my mach e, now 9000 miles in, I've done 2 resets manually and each time it goes down to 250-280. When I picked up off lot with 4 miles it had 232. I remember that scared me.

Now 9k miles in I get around around 340 full charge.

Drive and you'll notice every charge it will creep up slowly :)

I thought It was simple maths. My trip 2 is at 10,000miles and 3.7mpkw. My trip 1 is at 5000 miles and 3.7mpkw. I often finish a trip on 4.1. So yes I drive like an old lady. I would assume that this measure takes into account temperature etc so I don’t get why I have gone from 340 to 250 in a few weeks. I did see 370 once when it went back to Ford for an update. Am I understanding it wrong?

Yes, It's cold out. You are looking at life time averages and the car only cares about recent travels and temperatures.
