Disclaimer: I know this is not an airport, and I do not to announce my departure; this is my experience and my opinion.

@Ford Motor Company , I hope you take this feedback improve for the sake of your customers!

The time has finally come for me to trade in my 2021 Job 1 MME for a Rivian R1S dual, max pack.

I remember when Ford announced the MME. I was at work watching the livestream, and everyone was telling me not to buy it and to buy a real EV, a Tesla. I have always owned a Ford and to continue to support them. My friends and family even told me not to buy a first-gen from a legacy automaker. I was ecstatic and overjoy to place my order. I found a similar one at a dealer and went to buy it the day!

This experiment started out well as Ford did push a good of updates to resolve issues. When I got my MME, it was really bad. The backup camera would not load, and the screen would crash; the UI was extremely slow and sluggish. I remember thinking, "Am I making a mistake? Is Ford actually going to fix this?" Ford did fix those issues relatively, and I was happy! one else had an MME or had seen one. I constantly get stopped everywhere, and everyone would ask me so many about it. I recommended it even thinking. Well, that has changed! I just talked my brother out of buying one and getting a Tesla instead.

Ford has turned me into a bitter owner who doesn't care about his car anymore. I don't get excited about it, I wonder about what else my car is capable of, and I definitely am not recommending it to anyone asks me.

I think Ford needs to improve in several areas including OTAS, Customer experience, and they need to stop promising things when they can't deliver. There is a significant delay between OTAs and they seemingly only "allow better communication" or something else that no one notices. To me, it seems like Ford doesn't do a good enough job testing their software and they don't listen to their customers. I have requested the regen/power meter to be added to the IPC for years and they were looking into it too. Surprise - nothing happened. They have killed the EAP forum for whatever reason. I personally, think its too convenient that the forum went away right around when they were supposed to roll out the bc 1.4 OTA which turned into 1.3 to cars. I havent had an OTA in almost a year and in that time I learned from Ford that my car's IPMA module got messed up and I would have to pay $900.00 out of my pocket to fix it. Luckily, I had an extended warranty and only had to pay $100.00 but, what about the people that don't have the extended warranty? They're SOL! That was the last straw for me, I could live with the lack of OTAs, the lack of OTA notes, and the lack of features being delivered.

The HVBJB issue still seems to be around, the glass on this car is soooo fragile! I've replaced my windshield 3 times and yet again it's chipped.

My last gripe is the dealership experience! It's so terrible and there is such a vast difference in experience based on which dealer you go to. I stopped taking my car in because it wasn't worth it to me to deal with Ford service anymore.

Overall, Ford has a lot of work to do and I really hope they don't leave their loyal customers behind. I think Ford tried to get to market too fast and created a bunch of hype using buzz words and now they can't deliver on their commitments. Anyway, I'll probably still be around to see what Ford is up to but, its definitely time to move on for me. Farewell and good luck to you all. I hope you all have a better experience than me with your MMEs. This forum has been such a wonderful resource and there are so many great individuals here who help out all the time! You all make this terrible Ford experience a better one.

So basically OTA performance, or lack thereof, was 99.9% of the complaint and why you now tell everyone NOT to purchase a Mach-E, just as you were advised not to.

Is that a fair summary?

What about a fully updated Mach-E?
Someone purchasing a brand new Mach-E starts with the software features that you waited so long to receive, or never received at all.

I ask because of the number of 2021 owners on this forum that have purchased 2023/2024/2025 Mach-E's. There must be some redeeming attributes to the Mach-E that warranted not only others to recommend the Mach-E, but also to be repeat buyers.

Regardless, I hope that Rivian is a more enjoyable experience for you. It's certainly garnered its fair share of praise.

That plus the bad suspension and the fact that I had to pay out of my pocket to fix Ford's mistake. Not to mention the hvjb recalls and imo the glass on the car sucks.

Having both, my. Rivians have never needed service in 2+ years but your going to be disappointed in Service times. Also, the glass is no better and at $2k a pop I would look into insurance glass coverage.

However your main concern of software is 100000000 times better. Updates every month and my R1's have about 2x features since I purchased.

I've had my lemon Mach e for 18 months and no issues so far, so I have no complaints but bought at 60% off so understand concern of original adopters.

Wish you the best with your R1.

well good for you. My 21 MME's front camera broke right out of warranty. Replaced the short cable myself and no fix. Not gonna pay the ridiculous $2-4K for the full replacement. The car trade in value is probably around $15k. Very disappointed in Ford with that terrible engineering. If the resale value is not at the floor level, wouldve traded it for another brand of EV. Gonna have to wait until around 100K miles before battery warranty is out then trade in.

Rivian R1S is a very attractive vehicle. Also significantly more expensive than the MME. Not entirely comparable, but that’s not really relevant. I wish you luck!

Many people are frustrated by the MME’s vanilla IPC. And I’ve certainly seen fancier ones in other EVs - but it is also info that is basically useless to me. A power meter and energy stats looks cool, I guess, but it really isn’t all that useful to me. I guess perfect world I’d take the fancier IPC, but it’s so low on my list that it barely registers.

Weak glass - I highly doubt that. I suspect you had a little bad luck.

Software updates - yeah not Ford’s forte. But my 2021 is now full updated and it basically pretty good. Especially for a car at this price point. I’m not familiar with the Rivian system, but it better be better for the extra $20-30k.

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

As a 21 Job 1 owner, I am more frustrated by Ford's lack of communication than anything else. I'm still waiting on BC 1.3 with mostly crickets for the job 1 guys. With that being said, I do love this car. I've never been bothered by the ride and have taken it on many road trips and was very comfortable. I don't think I've ever driven a car for over 3 years that still makes me smile when I drive it. I'm on the fence on if I will buy another Mach E when it's time to move on but it will most likely be a contender

I have really enjoyed the MME, and frankly have had very few issues. The biggest complaint, and why I will never by a Ford again, is the lack of OTA updates for my 2021 Job 1. Putting salt in the wound of this early adapter, I paid the extra cost for Blue Cruise and they dont even rollout a BC 1.3 to my EV? Very disappointed in Ford, leaving their early customers behind at the 3 year mark.

BtW, son is still receiving high quality features for his Tesla and its over 4 years old. Should have listened to him and bought a Tesla. Overall the TESLA EV has better features, better software, and TESLA is supporting the customers will high quality, feature rich, OTA updates.
