That sucks -- iOS or Android? I've never had this happen with iOS.

Pretty sure it forces you to setup a door code and a backup password if I'm not mistaken.. Been a long while since I've setup PAAK from scratch though. I did have mine not work for me a few days ago, had to use the backup password. First time that has happened for a really really long time.

In the 25 months of MME ownership, I’ve had one major PAAK failure and, as it turned out, the owner of the car compounded things to the point of absurdity on that single occasion. Other than that PAAK on my iPhone has been quite good for me.

It asks you if you want to setup a passcode. You can say no. Same with door code, but OEM code always exists.

Well there's a lesson learned I guess. Good thing it wasn't an emergency.

PAAK stopped working for me two days ago when I was going home from the office. Knowing the door code (I use it often to open the frunk), and having the backup start code in my phone turned a big problem into a small inconvenience.

I waited for a next day to see if it starts working again, it didn't, so I reset it on my phone. After reading a lot about PAAK setup issues, I was surprised how easy and smoothly it worked.

The fob goes back to its hiding place in the car ;)

Thanks for the reminder to all that there is no reason to ever be stranded if PAAK fails. Take the time to setup the backup method and you'll never be stranded.

Oh, and test it periodically.

Unless Ford pushes an update that invalidates the keys and prevents the passcode from working. Which, I vaguely remember them doing in 2021.

So, while I and many other people, support PaaK. I think it would be prudent to avoid updating FordPass unless you are in the presence of a FOB.

I test my keypad entry weekly and my backup password monthly.

So good lesson to have door entry code and Back up start code
I also have a key hidden in a RFID blocking pouch. That I just received and tested. I will be setting PAAK this weekend
I don’t even think you need to set a door code if I remember they come with one on a CC type of device for each car

Like everyone has said door code, and passcode solve this one. Add a hidden key wrapped in aluminum foil or a fancy RFID pouch and you have a pretty full proof solution.
