Left with 88.3 miles on the odometer, returned with 1,133.4, a nice 1,000+ mile trip. First trip with BlueCruise (got it activated on our 2021, but haven't done a trip with it).
We had tested DC fast charging and it appeared we had the new charging curve, but wasn't confident because it was at 79% when I started the test. As we hit our first charging stop in Portage, Michigan, I was concerned. First charger gave 14kW. Tech was there, I said something to him, he was on the phone with EA and said to wait. 5 minutes later I gave up and moved to another charger. Started at 61%, and wasn't impressed with the speed I got. The next stop dissipated my fears, as we hit over 150kW and leveled out just over 100.
Car performed great. BlueCruise is fantastic. Not perfect, but really makes the drive easier. Took the car up to 101 for a second when passing. EA didn't fail to remind me that they have issues, Indianapolis had 50% of the 8 chargers down.
We used all of our 250 free hours, because the person we were visiting insisted we stay where they wanted us to stay, with no charger. At our first stop on the way home we arrived with 4% / 11 miles left. Could have detoured out of our way to charge at the start, but felt comfortable we would make it. Then, as we got close, I ended up driving about 10 miles at 55mph. Have no idea if intelligent range (which we got that morning) impacted things or not.
Planned the route with ABRP, GoogleMaps, and mostly not Ford navigation as it had stupid suggestions. One was to hit a ChargePoint slower charger and drive up the middle of Indiana, another was to stay on the Ohio Turnpike after charging instead of getting off and saving toll cost at the cost of driving on open country roads for 30 miles at 55.
Looking forward to selling our 2021 and enjoying many trips in this car.
