Sorry let me try to be more clear 1/8 chargers at the evergreen park area is working.

Looking at Plugshare it does seem Tesla is having an issue in Chicago the Oak Brook has reports of literally iced (frozen ice) chargers and the one at Rosemount is listed as closed today. Also the one at O'Hare show 5/8 down. All these are close to the airport so definitely a widespread issue
Are you sure they weren't at an EA station? That seems like their batting average.

Lol, I wasn't at either. Info pulled from plugshare

It's interesting that drivers are still going to these stations. You would think that their navigation / app would alert the driver of an issue. This could be because these chargers are the closest to O'Hare and drivers are just going to where they have charged in the past.

Mohegan Sun in CT is the only authorized location where you can purchase & take delivery of a Tesla. I was at the Casino with time on my hands so I did a test drive of a Model Y. My conclusion:
1) the vehicle was comfortable and ran smoothly. Fit and finish was fine.
2) for a test drive the controls were confusing as you’d expect since it’s different then MME.
3) I’m used to using the screen in front of a steering wheel. The Y has no screen in line of site.
4) screen contains most of the settings as 2 buttons with adjusting wheels are only things on the steering wheel.
5) I test drove in inclement weather.

Lastly, The Tesla sales force does a really good job of follow-up. I was called for my opinion and was sent a link to their build site. Tesla knew I owned the MME and still let me do the test drive.

It looks like the problem was a surge in charging demand due to cold temperatures and a charging infrastructure that was not at 100%

This could also be an edge case in the car's find charger software that it could not handle. Hundreds of vehicles being directed to the location with the least backup so it becomes the most backed up and then cars directed to pile into another site. I also wonder if the drivers waited too long before looking for charging so there was no alternative when there were problems.

This seems so familiar, I swear it happened also either last year or the year before somewhere, but at least searching last year all I found was one guy complaining about not being able to charge in the cold on christmas eve that was apparently news worthy at a bunch of places.

I thought it had something to do with the cooling pumps if temps with wind chill hit a certain level, but can't find anything definitive.

Either way, hopefully if it's a design/weather related cause they can improve on it. Still just as excited to have access to the network, stuff happens even to gas pumps and two areas Tesla is typically good at is charging and their motors. Most everything else they do is suspect but I have faith since this is a charging one they will figure it out.

What a great visual if some Lightning owners were to drive by and offer some level 2 charging help from the Pro Power onboard. Of course, it is unlikely those poor, helpless Tesla owners would be carrying a portable charging cable or a CCS-J1772 adapter, so the Lightning driver would have to bring that, too.

Again, why I would never use an electric vehicle for long distance driving.

EVs really suck in a cold winter, huh? Thank goodness I didn’t have to road trip this weekend.

Add to the pile of reasons why the majority of Americans don’t want an EV. The battery tech is not ready for mass-adoption.

Man, I could make a killing out there with my powerboost w/ my 12kW inverters and LFP pack onboard. 48 amp L2 charging available to the highest cash bidder ? ?
