you're right, you are going in circles. earlier you said the batches were based on the model year and trim, and they can't work on them in parallel. but that is not what we're talking about anymore. It's not relevant here.

We have established that I am months behind another owner with the same model year and trim. please explain how that "gets more people updated faster". It's the same update, it should not take ford anymore time to push it to me than it does for anyone else with the exact same car.
I never said they can’t work on them in parallel, just that they don’t seem to.

You’re also assuming that you have the “exact same“ car as another member. You may have different build dates, different options and therefore slightly different software versions.

There are definitely changes Ford has made on the cars even with the same model year.

It’s not like they’re purposefully holding updates back just to pick on you.

if you’re genuinely that dissatisfied about the pace of software updates, this may not be the car for you. There are other choices. Many of them have even worse OTA update track records though.
The PACE of software updates is fine. The HUGE differences in time it takes to PUSH updates to users is not fine. None of us should be fine with it.

As I have pointed out many times already, we're talking differences of MONTHS between owners with the exact same model year and trim. Tesla does NOT have issues like that.

The short answer (from other people here who work in software development, not me) is that this stuff takes time. Longer than you think, and longer than you like.
100% horseshit. To repeat, on the exact same car model year and trim level. It does not take months to push the EXACT SAME SOFTWARE.

even assuming you are correct for the sake of argument, it should not take MONTHS to resolve those differences on every single update. If their hardware is that fragmented you're just kicking the can from bad software updates to bad hardware design. The end result is still terrible updates for users.

Not to mention, do you realize how horribly inefficient that would be for Ford? It's a ridiculous notion on its face.

It’s not like they’re purposefully holding updates back just to pick on you.
I guess you're trying to be funny? Obviously I know Ford isn't singling out acosmichippo on purpose. That was never my point and you know that.

Another point that has gotten lost in the weeds. I still have not received 4.2.4, 4.2.5, 4.2.6, and 4.3.4.

Let's again assume you guys are correct and, somehow, legitimately it takes 2 months or more to develop updates between minor vehicle variations.

That STILL does not explain why owners can be *many* updates behind. If it really is that hard to develop updates, they should focus on updating everyone to the same baseline before proceeding with not only the next update, or the one after that, but *many* updates after. What other software in the world works like that?

No matter how you slice it, or however many excuses you pull out of your ass, Ford's update system is a shambles. It makes no sense whatsoever.

i’d also like to highlight how much of a silly fanboy comment this is. basically, “stop valid criticisms of this thing or GTFO”.

there are many many factors that go into the decision to buy a car. reasonable update rollout speeds are not the most important factor to me, and if i switched to a different car i’d just be dealing with a bigger set of problems.

But it is still an important issue to discuss, and it would benefit us all if Ford got their shit together.

Do you consider your mach e perfect? Nothing to criticize at all?

No, you’re arguing just argue at this point. If the car is causing you this much angst and inducing this much anger, it may be time to move on. Life is too short to voluntarily deal with that type of stuff. You might consider coming back and take a look a year or two after the 2025 model year refresh. Things should be different then and those cars might better meet your expectations.

Sounds like you have a serious case of fomo. How they rollout software is less important to me than getting the highest safety rating, this is a car.

You should write your concerns on stationary and mail to Ford headquarters, I am sure they will get right on this. Or join EA, or stop obsessing and enjoy a cool beverage and a nice sunset.

No, it explains everything.

Updates take MONTHS to develop and distribute.

Now (back to the steak analogy), you want your steak well done and are just complaining that it takes 15 minutes to cook it.

Why does it take 15 minutes?
Because that’s how long it takes to cook a steak.

I WANT IT FASTER! STEAKS TAKE TOO LONG! THAT OTHER RESTAURANT COOKS STEAKS FASTER! THIS IS BULLSHIT!

That’s you, that’s what you sound like. 🤣

If you want a medium rare steak, join EA. But you’ve said repeatedly you don’t. You want a well done steak and you want it in 5 minutes.

That solution doesn’t exist.

I'm perfectly fine, you are just engaging in ad hominem attacks. Engage the point, not the person.

But you can't because you know you're wrong.

not between the same model year and trim level. that would be asinine.

your analogy is meaningless because steaks are cooked individually. software updates are not. I get the exact same update as the owner who received theirs in march.

And I should get 4.2.3 before other owners get 4.2.4+, regardless of how long any updates take. 4.2.3 should get fully rolled out, then 4.2.4, then 4.2.5, etc.

You have posted 27 times screaming about how they release software updates. I work in software development, I would be asking development teams these same questions and trying to get them to be better yes. Posting 27 times on a forum does nothing. Big picture this is a 100 year old Car Company that is in new turf and CRUSHING it compared to the competition, hyundai, kia, VW, GM, how many updates/improvements have they taken?

Tesla is a software company, and yes after 12 years seem to have it down to a better science, but they struggle with safety, and quality issues that Ford is not suffering from. Honestly join EA if you NEED to have the latest and greatest.

I have responded 3 times. This thread is about a specific powerup 4.2.3, and now others who are curious have to sort through garbage. Create new thread "why I am so smart and ford should listen to me on how to do software releases" then I dont have to get notifications on it.
