FordPass App and battery drain

it sort of half-ass understands my Fusion's existence, so it seems to at least somewhat be tied to the same back end as MyFord Mobile. But not completely. Not quite sure exactly what's going on there.

I am very curious if the old app will work with the new car, though. Not because it has to, mind you - more just from an IT/developer morbid curiosity sort of thing.

Back in the late 90's I got a job working for a company that had a fault tolerant (via redundancy) platform for Telco nodes (SS7). Unfortunately, several of the engineers wrote internal C structs directly into messages exchanged between the nodes. So, if any update changed the structs (and they often did), you had to upgrade both nodes at once during a maintenance window.

So much for fault tolerance....

Decided to start a separate thread on this. FordPass app, 3 cars, iOS 14.0.1, iPhone 11 Pro Max. Called out Ford and Apple on Twitter. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm running iOS 14.0.1 and have no issues. FordPass doesn't even show up as a battery user. I used to have serious problems with Waze all the time. Huge battery user and always caused by phone to get very toasty. Finally just dumped it. Apple Maps have really improved significantly anyway. No real reason to use Google stuff anymore.

I need Waze for the alerts. Apple Maps is great except no alerts for police - like when I am going 80+ on the way to work at 530 am. I turn it off when I arrive and unplug.
I will reload FordPass again and see what happens.

I upgraded to 14.1 and have the same issue. (iPhone 11)
Interesting is that Ford Pass doesn’t show up in the list of background applications.

This just happened to me too. I haven't used the FordPass App in months.. All of a sudden on Thursday last week my phone started dying in a just a couple hours after charging...

Just an FYI, after deleting and reinstalling the app about 3 times and turning off all background things mine has stopped draining the battery.

I got the same notification. With the latest release of the app, I don't have the problem anymore.

The app now has an alert regarding this problem. The solution is make sure you have the latest version.
