The process was fairly straight forward. You need your phone and a fob with the battery in it.

Got this a while ago and finally stopped procrastinating and ran the update this morning. It got in a failure loop after deleting the PAAK where it couldn’t pair back with the car. Had to reset PAAK from the center console (General->Reset->Phone As A Key) and then re-pairing succeeded . (Had to search the owners manual to remember where that reset was)

My theory is that I initially had ignored the do this in an “open area” as per part of the prompts and the cell signal was too weak in my closed garage, putting it in a bad state. That being said, failing to pair for the second or third time (after I pulled the car out of the garage) should probably have a “you should try resetting the car's PAAK settings” guidance.

Thanks for the tip, was having the same problem, doing the reset fixed it. This problem started when plug and charge wasn't working even though it showed in ford pass as "on" (not a slider though).
So in an attempt to fix plug and charge I deleted paak and reset the access and permissions on the web reenabling plug and charge. That worked but when I tried install paak again it wouldn't let me pair.
I haven't tried plug and charge yet but it still shows just as "on" not a slider in ford pass.
